(1) And ye gods of painting bespoke Grimm: "Go forth and build a church. (2) Nice it shall be and prettily-textured. (3) Lifteth thou off the roof, thou shalt be able to look inside, and it shall not dwarf the German Landsers put next to it." (4) And lo and behold, Grimm did as he was told.

In plain English, I damn well like it!

Get those Nazis away from my church! That is the sacred soil of France! The lost provinces shall be regained! They are the flesh of our flesh!  La Patrie est en danger ... Revenge! etc. :)

Most excellent, Grimmbo. Just what I wanted. Rommel and his lads will be honoured to assault this German-built French church. And no doubt Sickly's Pantalons Rouges will do their utmost to prevent even another square metre of the soil of Lorraine from falling into the hands of Les Boches.

Superb job Grimm!  It's not far from what I'm planning. Where does the portal come from? That's one of the problems that is remaining.

Yes, Grimm, you are correct, that bit does come from the Armorcast graveyard set.  I did not use mine when I built my graveyard sections, but I still have it around somewhere.  The Armorcast terrain was really the first storebought terrain I saw and I just had to have tons of it, really great stuff.

One of my current projects is to finish off their ruined cathedral model, I just need to detail out the base and rubble the interior up and it will be all done.  I mounted the cathedral on a bit of quarter inch hardboard 18 X 24 inches, and made four 6 inch square graveyard bits.  I figured after I got it all done, it would make for some fine spooky .45 Adventure games.  Little did I know a year or two ago when the project started it would work out that way.

And the church does look nice.

Just to let everyone know that it arrived safely. Thanks to Grimm for the excellent church, and Mrs. Grimm for the excellent packaging.

St. Grimm's: The village church of Bleid, near Verdun:

Thought I might like to give you an idea of how it will be used. Sorry, but I couldn't be bothered to lay out the whole village for these shots. You'll see that  at a later date.

"Ils ne passeront pas!"

The obligatory marksman in the campanile (bet he buys it first!).

The church is at the opposite end of the village to that where the German assault begins, so if it comes to this then Les Boches will have overrun the whole joint. It won't bode well for the local poultry, either.

It looks great. Can't wait to see the whole layout with the village and read the battle report in due course :)

Well it better not be much later. These teaser shots have me curious as to what heroics will occur in Verdun.

Well, it will be ten French and twenty-four Germans later, which, at the rate that I paint, could still be decades away!  :)

While we're about it, it might be fun to have a priest. Does anybody know of one? A generic Catholic priest in vestments that could do for 19th or 20th Century gaming?

Make the German player yell "Francs-tireurs!" every time they target the marksman.

I also like the geese. It's a little detail, but it delights me.

I like the one with the hammer. He sort of looks like he is about to nail the church sewing club minutes to the billboard.

Oh, I don't know. It's so hard to pick a favourite...

The Passion of Saint Tibulus, Flight into Terror, Are you right there, Father Ted?, Speed 3? So many others.

I can't decide.

"Si ... Creo que fue el Reverendo Green ... con el cuchillo ... en la estancia."

"Those Protestants, up to no good as usual."

I bought these minis from RAFM this weekend! I think the priest fits nicely into the ecclesiastic duties!

but there are loads of priests in the sea... of lead!

By the Way:
Grim -> the church is great!
Plynkes -> it looks like it is going to have a great use! don't forget to aim the fog machine at the cemetery! :)

Yes, the next fight takes place mere minutes (rather than the real-life months) after the last one, and the two gaming areas would be touching each other if one were to run it as one big game.

So we will need to get the fog machine tuned up and ready for action.
