Title: Dracula- A Malamute Production!
Post by: Malamute on November 26, 2007, 08:47:51 AM
Ok, So I was messing around with my camera yesterday and decided to produce some pictures telling the Dracula story in miniature.

Its may 1897 and a young English lawyer Johnathan Harker has travelled to Transylvania at the request of a certain Count Dracula to negotiate the sale of properties in England.

Johnathan is staying in Bistritz and is about to leave on the coach when the locals try to stop him, warning him not to go to the castle. A kindly woman presses him to take a crucifix....

As the coach pulls away the locals can be seen in the distance giving the evil eye sign and crossing themselves.

The coach driver races to reach the Borgo Pass before nightfall....

The coach leaves Johnathan stranded  next to a roadside shrine...

Johnathan awaits the arrival of the Counts coach..

What evil lurks in such a place...

Next week Castle Dracula...................

Wow,

good idea with great photos and better minis!

What's the idea behind the roadside shrine?  why the animal head? Is there a historic reason? Is the shrine holy or unholy?

Looking forward to the next installment.

You have such wonderful, wonderful toys....

I wish I had enough props to do something like this, but I fear my cubby hole in the loft would collapse. (And I'd never finish them, of course.   )

Thanks Jolly Bob.I am lucky to have been building this collection for many years and have never got bored with it. Consequently I have miniatures for most eventualities. :)

Chaplain Severus - I have no idea about the shrine. Its taken from the Francis Ford Coppola Dracula film. I don' think there is any real historical significance to it. I think its quite cool and a nice gothic spin on the roadside cross :)

Great stuff. However, this really ought to be "Hammershield House of Horror" rather than "A Malamute Production."

Perhaps you should negociate a swapping of Usernames? Or get Hammershield to be your backer and distributer.  :)

Grimm, There will be more tree photos in the next chapter, I will include a close up for you. The tree bases are by snapdragon studios or Moondragon as they are now known. They are very nice resin tree trunks and they come in all heights and sizes. The tree part is a basic K&M tree twisted wire trunk with flock foliage.

Vikotnik - Tell me more about your forthcoming vampire project?

What's not to like about this?

Fantastic work from concept to execution. Like the rest, I can't wait for the next installment.

Maybe one day we may see a similar history of the Anglo-German War of 1889?

It came from one of the old Leading Edge games Bram Stoker's Dracula box sets of figures.

It is going to be a Nosferatu-themed thing. But I am still collecting material and miniatures, so there is nothing to talk about yet.

Yes, I agree with Malamute - very intriguing!

Is there a good Nosferatu [as in film version] figure available, or are you converting?

Westwind have a Nosferatu Master and 2x4 =8 Nosferatu I did have them for Gothic Horror but sadly sold them off as no one was interested in gaming it at my local club. They are for the most part, very nice, nicer than their VAampires IMHO :)

I agree with you on that one, their Nosferatu are very nice figures. I have a number of other ones from various differnt sculptors, but I think the Westwind ones are the best. :)

Yes, the West Wind ones really are nice figures.:P

I have found that one at Reaper Miniatures:
http://www.reapermini.com/pages/figure_finder_image.php?sku=02867_G.jpg&image=3

I like it very much, the sword has to be ground off it, though.
Lucky me! I seem to need only one vampire!:D

Edit: Pic does not work, don't know why... try the link instead.

I agree that the West Wind Nosferatu are very good. The Blue Moon one is nice also, but you can only get it in a box with a bunch of other vampires and vampire hunters.

But, as Malamute says, you do need loads of Vampires & that of course means loads of Vampire-hunters too  :)

Great stuff.
I am tempted by this period as I was always a bit of a hammer house of horror buff as a teenager (you can probably tell from my choice of avatar)..., regularly tuning in to Fear on Friday etc...

What really caught my eye was the coach and horses. Where was this from?
I am trying to find a suitable coach and horses set for my pirate games governors mansion...

Any help appreciated
Scott

No, the first Harker figure is Paroom Station Miniatures Dr Jekyll.( As you know with these cheap film studios invariably used the same sets and actors to keep the film production costs down.)
You will see later Harker changes into another figure. Lets just say it was artistic differences between the director and actor.... ;) lol
