Title: Desert play surface
Post by: grubman on November 26, 2007, 12:32:00 PM
I've never built a "desert" play surface before (I've always played on the green).  I'm going to use pink Styrofoam as the play surface (portable) and need to know what others use to create that desert look.

Most people have told me they just go with drybrushed sand.  The Desert scenes I've seen on the GW galleries always seems to look, well, softer than that, and I always assumed that there is some sort of desert/sand flock?

Any advice is welcome.  I live in the US, so if you want to recommend a specific product or store it'll have to be something over here that accepts paypal.

Thanks.

A french club near Paris created a very nice board with foam.

I can ask them what they used for the colours

Wow, that looks awsome!  Looks like drybrushed sand there too.  Guess I'll just go that route.

That table makes me embarrassed over the foamboard and computer printout houses I'm slapping together to get playing asap.  Oh well, once I get the basics done I can start to build real stuff.
