Title: 28mm Yamashiro
Post by: OSHIROmodels on October 28, 2011, 11:14:43 PM
Well, its finally ready (the first parts anyway) and they are below  :)

They will be on the website next week and along with the individual parts I'm going to be doing as sets, the first consisting of a gateway, two external corners of 60 degrees and two straight sections.

This will do for a table edge or corner. More expansions will be available later.

Anyway, on to the piccys  :D

One of the nicest places I saw near Hakone was a customs post/garrison on the Tokaido.  I always thought that that would be more useful on a table than a castle:

Really nice looking gateway and corner sections. So are you going to be casting these in resin, and selling them? Great work - as always.

Thanks for the comments chaps  :)

One of the nicest places I saw near Hakone was a cutoms post/garrison on the Tokaido.

Now that's an interesting idea. I think that one you've shown is more Edo period (looking at the roof and not knowing more about it) but it certainly sounds a goer  :)

These are the resin ones and they will be on the website for sale next week  :)

Certainly Edo.  Here is me getting the shakedown by the local law:

His watch suggests that anachronism is not one of the strong points.... :D

Always on time the Japanese, didn't you know  ;D  ;)

I will have a look into the customs post for Sengoku though, it might prove worthwhile  :)

Great stuff there Jimbib.

Joroas, you look great in that costume but the local law looks a bit casual.

IIRC, a similar, but much more rustic customs post features in an old B&W Kurosawa film, although that one seemed to be located somewhere along a boundary between two daimyos' domains. Unfortunately, I forget which film it was - The Hidden Fortress?

I love hidden fortress :-* I had an idea to update it to a sci-fi setting. The defeated Daimyos daughter could become a sorta space princess. Her two squabling, wandering ashigaru retainers, maybe a pair of robots? with Toshiro Mifunes' ronin character I was thinking of splitting him into two, 1 being a cheeky but lovable mercenary type who finds redemption through friendship and the second a young man who although poor and unworldly is secretly a noble. To reflect Shinto I think the idea of kami(the divine or spirit) should be included.Maybe an all encompassing or universal 'force'. I cant think what to call it though.  Oh yeah, and keep the martial arts element. Tart it up a bit so its a bit so its sci-fi and it may work. any other suggestions greatly accepted ;)

I watched Hidden fortress a couple of weeks ago.  Great storyline and open to a huge scenario arc for an RPG.

Some great looking terrain there, James!
 :o :-* :o

I am sure they will sell well.
They do look very well detailed for resin.

I must ask; What is your recipe for the brown?  :-*
It is lovely, and I want to steal, erm, copy the colour. ::)

Comsquare; Where is that picture from? That is top notch art AND it cracked me up! lol

It's from a guy called Otis Frampton, Deviant Art IIRC, inspired by the Custom Action Figures from Sillof.
Here are the figs:
