Title: My Little Warband, Dungeon Crawls Are Magic
Post by: B. Basiliscus on November 07, 2011, 03:12:23 PM
Yes, this is EXACTLY what it looks like.

As part of a pet project, I'm trying to construct a group of adventurers based around the main six characters of the new My Little Pony series.
My Little Pony Friendship is Magic has been sweeping the internet as of late, teenage boys and grown men explosively flooding into it's fanbase every day for god knows why. (spoiler, it happens to be a half decent show)
I've found two models so far that represent characters well, but my search has run into a snag.
Hey, come back!
I need the help of you fine people to locate more models which match characters from the program.
The party members need to be comprised of fantasy figures in the 25/28 MM range, and it does not particularly matter what class they are.
Their genders do not need to match those of their representative ponies, though I would prefer a relatively even female to male ratio.
Key things to search for are symbols on armor/clothing and weaponry, for instance, the Reaper Tolzar cleric has Rarity's signature diamonds all over his armor and shield.

Yes, I know.
My Little Pony.

Here's what I've found so far.
Rarity:

Reaper, Tolzar:

Twilight Sparkle:
Reaper, Elquin:

Here's what I need...
Fluttershy:
Looking for butterfly symbolism, figure should be unarmed to reflect the character's disposition.

Rainbow Dash:
Looking for some sort of quick looking lightening mage with a flowing cape.

Applejack:
Some sort of figure with a hat similar to the character's. A not-over-the-top witch/vampire hunter may work. Consider a druid with some sort of fruit on their staff - if such a figure exists.

Pinkie Pie:
A female bard would be preferable, symbols in apparel will be difficult to find. Frilly lace clothing or something could work well.

With any luck we can find them all quickly, get some interest invested, then start on the BACKGROUND CHARACTERS!
Before you can ask, no, I have no shame.  :D

Why don't you pay someone to just make you sassy and sexy pony girls...  ;D

How about one of the Freebooter fairies with butterfly wings?

Definitely not a bad choice at all - though those three look a tad... snooty.
A nice reserved fairy girl is a good lead, don't know how I didn't think of it.
Thanks!

Really amazed this thread is moving so quickly, I expected a quick drop and a sudden stop.

I don't know what the hell this is about. "Spoiler: it happens to be a half-decent show"???

Spoiler that:
IT'S "MY LITTLE PONY"  :D :D :D

Yours truly,

Sir Dryden

 Yes... yes it is.

What makes it worse is that as much as I would love to see the ponies cut up with chainsaws I think this project is actually pretty cool.

I look forward to seeing what other figures will be added to the collection.

Maybe I should chainsaw myself.....  o_o

Tisk tisk, six comments and only two of them helpful or constructive.
You people could stand to learn a lesson in friendly civility from this show.  ;) ;D

Anyways, the Anima Tactics suggestion was a good lead - though I really only found one fig that suited the project.
I'm torn between this Fallen Angel Dinah figure and the fairy mentioned above for Fluttershy.
While the Anima model carries the soft, gentle grace that Fluttershy displays in the series... the fairy has wings and shit.
I suppose of course I can always sculpt wings onto the Anima angel, but I'm keeping them both in mind for now.
Next, I think I'm going to be using this Reaper mini (which is  Cecilia the Trickster) for Pinkie - since it's sleeves and attire match her frilly design.
The only similarity to the balloon 'cutiemark' will be on Cecilia's bracelet.
And the last of my leads so far, this Fenryll peasant woman (far right) as Applejack.
I must say that when I first found this one I was dubious, but she's grown on me - especially when I realized I could swap out the scythe blade for a garden hoe.
All we really need now is Rainbow Dash.

I appreciate any help you guys can give me, this is a lot harder than it seems.   o_o

Take a browse through Darksword's catalog, I'm confident that you find what you need there.

Otherworld have a butterfly winged lady in their wildernes encounters line.

Bizarre is the word - BUT I like the idea!
Have you looked at Soda Pop miniatures - available through Warlord Games? I'm sure they could be put to good use.

Could be relatively cheap... A pleasure even...  ???

Alright, let's get this back on the road.
After a little while of being sick (TOO SICK FOR MINIATURES!?) I'm back in the swing of things, and ready to continue the search for models for this project.
I appreciate all the help thus far.
http://www.darkswordminiatures.com/mainwebsite_html/gallery/set5castle_femalewiz.htm
Dark sword yielded this figure as Rainbow Dash, but... I can't say that I like her at all for the character. She's just not masculine enough - and yes, the rainbow colored pegasus pony IS the most manly thing in the show.  ;D
Dark Sword and Soda Pop unfortunately didn't have anything good for the project.
We only need one more character here, and it should be an easy one to find.
A sly, tricky looking mage with a lightening theme.

I also found this Dragonblood thing...
 lol

Is anyone interested with a continuation of the project to include minor and background characters? I personally find this quite fun and wouldn't mind at all.  :D
Hell, I'd enjoy it.

This freebooter figure carries the attitude of RD nicely, so I think we're done here. :D
(http://i44.tinypic.com/4jkd28.jpg)
All he needs is a minor edit on his staff.

Now I can let the thread die until I eventually get these and paint them up!
Thanks for all the help, everyone.
Really appreciate it.

Not sure if serious, but Ral Partha made a flock of small fairies with butterfly wings ;)

Well, congratulations!  While this is niche I think it's cool (not for me though) and it makes me feel less "singular" with some of my projects - Victorian Spanish Colonials/Spanish VSF, Soldados de Cuera, Gothic Horror In Mexico...

Gracias,
