Title: How to create a comic like album
Post by: YIU on November 12, 2011, 01:29:16 PM
Hello,

Some of you make some really nice comics using miniatures pictures to create a story.

Which sofware do you use ?

Where can I find it ?

Thanks

I suspect people are using Comic Life (http://plasq.com/products/comiclife/win)

It is what I use for my Battle Reports for Pulp City. I have been very happy with it as an investment.

Some examples using the software can be found on my blog with this link:

Another option is Inkscape, which isn't a specific comic-like album, but easily be repurposed for it.

Unless you have no interest in anything else - you might consider a quick look at more complete image editing software packages.  PSP, Photoshop, GIMP and others can create the comic look that you are looking for.  There are likely a couple of extra steps from start to finish - but nothing too difficult.  Probably one of the handiest bits though is that it also allows you to do the yellowed pictures that you see from VSF games, the grainy photos that you see from WWI and WWII games and many other effects.

If you are pretty sure that all you will want to do though is comic albums - Comic Life looks like it will do what you want.

If you want the faded look I would try Picasa from Google.  As well as a very simple editor I can do the following:

Original:

B&W, Sepia filter, warmify, film grain, film grain, boost shadows, boost highlights and soft focus - less than a dozen clicks and 30 seconds work:

Maybe the soft focus is a touch OTT but a quick undo gives you:

You can always go back to the original image or undo each step (inc the SAVE command).

Very simple to use and a free download.

Thanks guys but I already use Photoshop and Picasa. I just need a software to create comics in a easy way like comic lfe as you only have to drag and drop photos.
