Title: Sammies - 1 Feb update
Post by: janner on November 14, 2011, 01:40:27 PM
They do exist and are heading off to be undercoated once I've posted this (just one unit of yari left to base):

Yes, there is a lone Danish axemen in the middle - I don't really know why  lol

Nice.

And the lone viking in your first pictures must be a well traveled type, must be the one they found burried in Sweden with a Budha statue in his grave.  :D

Looks good so far mate  8) (not enough though  ;D  :D )

I would suggest a bit of a highlight around the mon on the jingasa (emblem on the hat  ;) ) and some varnish on the do (body armour).

cheers

James

Yes, the highlight on the hat has disappeared under the satin varnish.

Gloss varnish on the do?

Gloss or satin will do  :)

A mix of both in the unit would work quite well.

cheers

Very nice!

I've often toyed (so to speak) with the idea of collecting samurai, etc, but I know I'd never make any headway with all of those gorgeously-intricate patterns on their armor and kimono.  :-[

So, I've dusted off (well pulled out the sotrage box) these bad boys and aim to complete the last four dismounted sammies, a unit of twenty ashugaru, and as many of the mounted sammies as possible before the end of this fine initiative  :D

As a taster, here's some photos of those I completed in time for Salute 2012!

I abandoned all hope with my Samurais, glad to see that people make the best of them.

I expect you to hit us with an army shot soon :D
