Title: Textured Plasticard
Post by: Sirolf on November 21, 2011, 05:52:52 AM
Hey!! I was planning on using some textured plasticard for some 28mm buildings. I want to know if somebody could identify the brand of this particular one
(http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll147/el_paquito/socle-flamer03.jpg)
I think it would work really good for 28mm... If not, what brands do you recommend that could work for 28mm and with such nice details...
Thanks for your time!

I don't recognise that piece, but for other stuff looking around Antenociti's Workshop wouldn't be a bad start:

Good link, very useful.
Just to get technical, that's not what we call plasticard though, is it? That's injection mould styrene (hard plastic), isn't it? I just point it out because there are companies which make vacuformed or otherwise texture sheet styrene and those behave a bit differently from moulded hard plastic.

I always thought it was the same material, but formed differently.

Quite possibly, but having worked with both I can positively say that the injection moulded stuff is, for example, more resistant to solvents.

Yeah I think this is it!! I like the thickness better than other styrene sheets on the market. Thanks a lot!

This is good stuff, would work well for road surfaces too.

The item in question isn't but of you want something with similar thickness that is injection moulded plastic try Wills range of model railway building products. They do quite a range of cobblestoned surfaces, dressed stone, brick, drystone etc, etc, etc. It isn't cheap but it is very attractive and very durable.
