Title: My trebuchet is FAMOUS!
Post by: Sangennaru on December 05, 2011, 01:52:33 PM
Woo!
Some days ago Ratmanof sent me a link to an article he wrote.
Something like a year ago i sold him a trebuchet (You can see it HERE! (http://www.thelazyforger.com/works/medieval/trebuchet/)) and he slowly but brillantly assembled it, customized it and finally the article is over! =)

I'm really happy of the result, he did a great job, and i think it is time to share it here, on the LAF!

Just wanted to note that i can still cast and sell them, it is not OOP for the moment! =) Someday the mould will break, but it still work!

Cheers,

First, thank you for the link.  I found the article interesting and fun to read.  He's done a very good job at building your model you should be very proud.

What kind of range does it get when deployed?

Well deserved. Lovely finished product.

But the model is based on a great kit
Thanks.. it was one of my first projects in resin, and now i'd do it much better, but it has his look ;)

What kind of range does it get when deployed?
hum, ... enough? lol
Actually there's a discussion about the range of the non-gw trebuchets, since the line of sight should be from the top of the model... But it is quite a useless point. :)

Thanks DeafNala! With your writing style, your compliments are very effective! ;)

Congrats! That's a very very nice model. Love all the details you packed it with.

I put together one myself once. It wasn't the most detailed thing, but I was happy with the texture and structure:

Nice one Sangennaru - must get round to building mine some time. I had a vague idea of using it in an undead horde I have festering away somewhere, and crewing it with some spare Skullchucker crewmen...

Kudos to Ratmanof too - nice tutorial - I'm sure it'll come in handy!

Are you kidding, right?
Your Treb is GREAT!!!! ways better than anything you can manage to cast with resins! there are so many layered structure and stuff... it's amazing! :-*

What i like most is the complexity of the project, ...wow!

@DowVooVoo: it's 10 euros, plus shipping! =)

woa jack!  :-* :-*
your trebuchet is far better than the gw one! A very nice kit, and very nice customization on that blog. :)
I do not really need a trebuchet right now (but who knows lol) but I really would like to buy your little and lovely styrene cart! (maybe more than one!) and I think you are ready to show to your LAFers fellows a catalogue of the goodies of yours you can sell us  :D.
BTW I went on your blog and my antivir told me that the website is not safe  :? better for you to check it (or maybe I have a paranoid antivir  o_o)

cheers

Well, it was easier for me not having to produce for a kit! I really do like all the little chains and hooks, and other fittings Sangennaru added to his model. I have some metal fittings (some is styrene, such as the pulleys, but the plates are just thin card), but not so many. Just enough to give the impression of more detail.

I wound up making my own because I really liked the look of this particular version (on the diamond base). These plans (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/6/63/Trebuchet1.png) were immensely useful (especially for making it clear how the thing actually functioned!), though obviously I've diddled the scale a bit.

Thanks everyone, guys! =)

I actually know that. In my opinion (but i'm just not a pro) it is because of an old virus attack that happened some months ago. Anyway, i'll try to fix it for shure! But it will take time, and someone expert in this! =)

@FramFramson: There's a little difference:
MINE is a resin piece, nice looking with some random details.
YOURS is an awesome realistic piece, wonderful looking and extremely elaborated!

There's no match, your is a hundred times better.

That's why i'm asking you: could you convert the plans you linked in drawings? Because to me it is MUCH less  time consuming starting working from plans!
If so, that could be the beginning of a wonderful friendship! (Casablanca, or Black Cat, White Cat ;) )

cheers,
Jack

What do you mean by convert? Do you mean drawings of my design?

I had one more resource which was very useful for me: These CGI drawings.

Basically my design is a simplification of these drawings.
