Title: Afrika Korps Colors
Post by: The Gray Ghost on December 21, 2011, 11:42:11 PM
I'm not sure what colors to use for my DAK some books show tan while others have light olive uniforms.

Simple answer = Yes and Yes.  Uniforms were issued in olive green which faded quickly to tan.  Web equipment issued in dark tan which also faded. Mix in some brown leather and the combinations get complicated.  Most realistic would be a combination of light and dark tan and olive.  Tough answer is "buy a book" like osprey africa corps and study the colors.  John

I've been painting a few 15mm DAK and have tried to give a battle worn look. I decided to paint them in various shades and colours, some with fresh uniforms others bleached by the effects of sun and sand. In the attached photo some are wearing Italian uniform trousers.

The tan uniforms are ex Italian or captured British stuff.  You get a good look mixing it all together.
