New to the forum.
Thought I'd start a Mythos thread.
First up Classic Bob Murch/RAFM Tcho-Tcho's.
Sorry, 1st pic is a little blurry.

and the group...

Cool stuff and nicely painted!
-
Excellent work Sir! I really like the colours you've used. :-*
-
Yes, nice colours and minis I had not seen before. Well done Sir.
-
Thanks for the kind words.
I try to work with a limited, but carefully selected, color pallet.
I can't pull off some of the gorgeous color choices I see other people get away with on here.
A few Maniacs also from RAFM.

group shot!

How they got all of these psychos together without a blood bath is beyond me! ;D
-
:)
fantastic paints :)
-
and very nice basing, i love the maniac at the front lurking behind the dead tree
regards
jim
-
Lovely, esp tha blank stares!
-
Thanks a lot for the comments.
thebinmann-The "blank stares" you will notice are a reoccurring theme. Mostly because I get really frustrated painting eyes! ;D
fairoaks024-Glad you liked the bases, I was worried I overdid it. :)
Lichen grows all over the trees around my house. I like foraging around for it because you can get some weird shapes.
Here's a few more minis. These are all Blue Moon Gangsters, but I usually use them as G-Men.

This guy reminds me of Michael Caine in Get Carter.
Thanks for looking.
-
Very nice, all of them!!
-
Thanks einarolafson!
I love your painted mini's by the way.
I'll try to put up some more photos when I get a chance.
-
Some Copplestone minis

Something materializes.
-
These are supposed to be Ghasts but I use them as Dimensional Shamblers.
and a Cthonian
(http://i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p627/aggro84/mythos/Cthonian.jpg)
Hope you like em.
-
Very decent painting on the Cthonian, Aggro. But also everything else is really good. Thumbs up!
-
Some lovely stuff there, aggro!
I especially like the Copplestone Dames, but they are all great!
-
Thanks Mason, Thanks Professor.
Copplestone really makes some great miniatures.
They basically paint themselves.
-
Ghouls!

Deep Ones!

Anyone lose any SAN?
-
More good stuff!
Gotta say those bases certainly look good, mate.
-
Thanks Mason,
Here's some Pulp Figure Cultists around one of three foam buildings I made.
The floors are removable and the roof comes off.
-
Great aged brickwork. Looks just like my garden wall.
-
Thanks Steve F. :)
I was pleased with the brick as well.
-
I went to a semi local game store tonight and played a mini game.
The lighting was off so the photos aren't so great.
We used my buddy's rules to play.
Overview shot from my side of the board:
I didn't want to drag a bunch of boxes around so I brought limited terrain.
I played a group of well armed elite Agents.
My opponent went for cheaper models with the exception of a huge construct.
Here, one of my opponent's Deep Ones has killed my Agent's K9 that interrupted his charge. The Deep One was still able to engage an Agent so I sent another two Agent's into close combat to save him. (Sort of a dumb idea)
Here's some more of my opponent's models moving in for the kill. The red bead represents a wound from my Agent Tommy Gunner.
The Tommy Gunner takes aim again.
Bodies started to stack up in the middle of the board. The construct model is a D and D pre-paint. I like him so much, I offered to paint him up for my friend and brought him home with me.
My Agent leader was able to react fast enough and blast a couple cultist as they closed in.
The bad guys continue close in.
I rolled really good and my Leader was able to counter this cultist's charge as well.
More bodies piling up. The construct was able to kill two of my Feds.
At the end of turn four I was still ahead on Victory Points though and won the game!
-
Great report, aggro84!
Nice shots of some lovely miniatures and terrain.
;D :-* ;D
Any idea what that 'construct' was originall called?
I can see a use for that. ;)

-
Though I would buy him from Miniature Market
http://www.miniaturemarket.com/ddnb46.html
Little cheaper lol
-
Thanks for the comment Mason.
Thanks Comsquare for identifying the DnD mini. I really had no idea what it was other than it was a DnD pre-paint.
$13.00 :o
Sounds like my friend struck plastic gold as I'm pretty sure someone gave it to him. :)
It's a cool fig, but at the end of the day it's still bendy plastic.
-
Your welcome.
But £23 on ebay is even better lol
Could it be that I saw some of your minis in the "MEST" rules ;)
-
23 pounds! :o
I'm in the wrong business!
and yes, those are all of my minis in the MEST rules. ;)
-
So, I could contact you then if I have rules-questions 8)
-
Absolutely! Just PM me or email me.
-
what a nice collection you have Aggro! :-*
Love the maniacs! Especially the fat one. Well done!
-
I love those Robert Murch CoC minis, and you've done a lovely job on them.
The fat guy, I think, is very specifically intended to resemble Tor Jonson, wrestler and star of cinematic greats such as Bride of the Monster and Plan 9 from Outer Space. I think that's why I bought that pack in the halcyon days of, I dunno, 1994 or so. Still have him.
Anyway, beautiful stuff all around -- you've really made me want to dust off my CoC figures and do some gaming.
-
Thanks Faber, Thanks James Holloway.
They used to show "Plan 9" on television all of the time when I was a kid and briefly again after "Ed Wood" was released.
I really enjoy the old RAFM / CoC line.
They are available very cheaply in the States still which is also nice. Generally between $5.00 to $10.00 U.S. a pack which is an insane deal!
Here's the rest of my Blue Moon Gangsters that frequently pose as Feds.
(http://i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p627/aggro84/mythos/IMG_1566.jpg) (http://i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p627/aggro84/mythos/IMG_1567.jpg)

Not the prettiest models but they were another great deal and they get a lot of gaming use.
-
Nice miniatures, great paintjob and fantastic sceneries. I really like this thread.
-
More great stuff, Aggro!
Could you please stop posting now, as you are making want to start my Coc/Strange Aeons project NOW!
I am supposed to be concentrating on my VSF and you are not helping! ;)
$13.00 :o
It's a cool fig, but at the end of the day it's still bendy plastic.
:o
Exactly!
I dont think I will be paying that for it.
They can stick their Flesh Golem right up their.......................... ::)
-
Thanks YIU, thanks Mason.

So I'm a bad influence on you? Cool. :D
I dont think I will be paying that for it.

This reminded me about an article I read about how they were going to ban inmates from playing DnD.
I was joking with a friend about how inmates would have to sneak in contraband dice in their "prison pockets"
Those D4's look like they would really hurt. lol
-
I was considering creating a pulp thread for these, but decided to limit my number of threads.
I usually use these guys in mythos games anyways. :)

Really more Gothic horror, but since he made his 1st appearance here.
It was a little bright out, so the shading is a little washed out.
-
Good stuff! Where did you find that gent? Great paint jobs on your stuff!
-
Wonderful thread! Love the paintjobs and choice of figures. Those old CoC models are some of my favorites ever.
-
Thanks Uncle Mike and styx! I really appreciate the feedback.
Where did you find that gent?
If your talking about the construct it's a DnD pre-paint, repainted.
He made his first appearance in an AAR, unpainted, in this thread.
-
Wonderful collection of minis. Nice work!
-
I sure have missed a great thread.
Must have been asleep.
Great work Aggro84.
I have stayed away from Cthulhu stuff because I have so many projects already.
Seeing your stuff is making it harder.
-
Thanks mattblackgod and Marine0846.

Oh come on. You know you want to. ;D
-
First off, yes, they are not the prettiest miniatures.
They're from Old Glory's Cowboy Wars line and cost a little over $1.00 each.
There are a lot of different weapon combinations and they've seen A LOT of action in miniature games.

Man, your soooo prolific!
Your minis are just a pleasure to watch, in this and your other threads.
Thanks for sharing.
-
Entirely consistent with Victorian theories of physiogomy, which suggested that ugly people do ugly things!
The paint is, of course, much better than the minis.
-

Thanks Steve F! I use them in all sorts of games beside mythos themed ones. They really have seen a lot of action.
Man, your soooo prolific!
Thanks magokiron!
Most of this stuff I painted a while ago while I was a lurker here. Most of the minis that I've painted in the last month or so is in my Post-Apoc thread.
-
aggro,
great use of the chinese figures from old glory, i'll have to get some now to use as tong cultists...
superb work all the way through.
regards
jim
-
Very nice, Good work!! I like Old Glory stuff, they are cheap and with a good painting job you get a good pool of miniatures for playing.
-
Thanks fairoaks024 and einarolafson !
-
I've been a little inactive here lately.
I thought I'd post a few atmospheric photos I've taken for Kitrok's MEST rules to keep things fresh.
There's been a lot of Strange Aeons and Mythos stuff on LAF lately and I'm feeling left out. :)

Sweet! Show us more! :o
-
Some wonderful characters there... and the cars... ;D :-*
-
Where did you get those cars?
-
Love the Chinese, and the action shots, but the cars have to be my favourites in this bunch!
Wonderful!
:-*
-
Wow what a great bunch of awesomeness! Great work love it!
-
Thank you styx, Ray Rivers, Mason and Mo!. :)
The cars are Lledo Days of Yesteryear repaints from eBay. They don't scale up right, but they look good on a table.
With shipping they were about $5 USD a piece.
-
Very nice!! Love those pictures!! I think Lledo and Matchbox are the best way to get very cheap and good cars!! But be careful Lledo trucks are usually very small (I don't mind, but some people get annoyed at that kind of thing!!)
Cheers and you know... we want more!!
-
Great collection on this thread. A very ecclectic collection, you should be proud. :o :-*
-
Can only echo what the others have said - great collection, well painted and very "atmospheric".
Certainley made me look again at the Blue Moon miniatures and I have put together my "Hobo Jungle" after seeing them in your phots (just got to paint them now).
RMZ
-
Thank you einarolafson, D@rth J@ymZ and Ramirez Noname for teh kind words. :D

Yes, Leldo seem to be scaled to fit in their original packaging as opposed to a consistent scale.
Their standard vehicles seem a little small for 28's but look pretty good.
Their trucks on the other hand scale up as 20's or maybe even 15's!
-
I've been really dragging ass and haven't lifted a brush in a week.
Still, I managed to take a few pictures today!
Pulp Cultists (sorry a little blurry)

Looking good, finish those bases! They will looke even more awesome!
-
very nice Aggro! :-*
Missing link is a superb mini. I really like the paintjob on the bad guy on the right. Lovely grey and lovely skull face! I would personally add a white touch on that.
Would you like to share how did you paint that white coat? Really like it.
-
Nicely done!
The missing link is awesome! :-*
-
Nicely done!
The missing link is awesome! :-*
I second that. Where di you get it ?
The Lldedo cars are suitable for 28mm miniatures (but Solido and Matchbox ones are too large). I think you made the right choice.
-
Lovely Cultists, aggro!
:-*
I am just finishing off my own purple cultists at the moment and have another bunch to do soon.
I am having difficulty deciding on a colour for them, and am torn between red and grey.
Your reds are lovely and are pushing me towards that direction....
The characters are great, I have several of them, so thanks for the inspirational pics.
:)
And another voice joins the chorus; Where is the Missing link from?
He is great!
:o
-
I am having difficulty deciding on a colour for them, and am torn between red and grey.
Same for mpe. Most of the cultist we see on the forum are red or purple. I saw a fantastic yellow one but I hesitate between blue or black/white.
-
Thanks everyone for the kind words. :)
The Voormis / Missing Link is a Reaper Yeti Shaman. I got him on clearance for a great price!
I went with red cultists for my Mythos project. Maybe some day I'll buy a couple more packs and paint them a different color for some Cult Vs. Cult Mythos action!
Time permitting, I'll take some size comparison photos of my 4 Lledo cars.
-
I love Pulp Figures cultist and you have painted yours very well .
-
I like the Missing Link, interesting paint scheme. Can you add a comparision shot of him and a standard West Wind human figure?
-
Thanks einarolafson and Schrecksenmeister!
Schrecksenmeister
Sure when I get some time I'll take some comp shots of the missing link and my Lledo vehicles.
I had a very unproductive weekend, and didn't get anything done. :(
Sorry Faber, I forgot to comment on the lab coat.
Just a sandstone color as a base with added white to high light. Nothing fancy like your Skaven Wizard fur. :D
-
Sorry Faber, I forgot to comment on the lab coat.
Just a sandstone color as a base with added white to high light. Nothing fancy like your Skaven Wizard fur. :D
but pretty cool (and glowing!) too :D
Thanks for receipe mate.
-
I took some comparison shots today of my "old tymey" cars I use in Pulp and Mythos games.
I thought these cars were Lledo, but they all say "Models of Yesteryear" or "Matchbox Models of Yesteryear" on the bottoms of them.
The models used were Foundry and Pulp Figures.
I also took a scale shot photo of my Yeti/Voormis WIP.

Good looking vehicles. I like the upholstery, in particular.
-
Thank you very much for the Voormi scale shot! The vehicles look very good too.
-
Some lovely vehicles there! :-*
Pulp at its finest! ;)
-
Wow, great looking vehicles!
-
Fantastic thread!
I'm just after spending a bit of time reading throughh the whole thing. Wow lots of eye candle and a very ecleptic mix of miniatures.
I love the foam buildings you have built, any chance of some more pics of them? Very atmospheric.
Cheers
Andy
-
Thank you Steve F, Schrecksenmeister, Ray Rivers, necrocannibal and oldskoolrebel.
oldskoolrebel,
The only problem with my foam buildings is during boxing and un-boxing, little flakes are always breaking off. I've had to touch them up a few times.
I'll try to take more photos a some point.
There's a lot of photos of them here though:
http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=37400.0 (http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=37400.0)

Soooo much beautiful work. Very impressive! :-* :-*
-
Thanks for the shots! Great looking stuff!
-
Loving the vehicles, mate!
:-*
I have a few myself to do, just need to find the time.....
Did you take them apart first?
Asking as I am trying to save time when I do get around to doing mine (eventually..)
Thanks for the info and scaleshot on the ML.
It is a very nice model, and if I did not already have my own in the pile, I would be very tempted by that one.
-
Thank you, d phipps, styx and Mason!
Mason, I didn't bother taking the cars apart first. I just primered them black and got too it. :D
I was contemplating basing them, but decided to just leave them as is.
I did glue the wheels in place though so they wouldn't keep moving around.
-
A few new photos from my completed latest batch of completed figures..
Unfortunately, a lot of the photos didn't come out very well.

The dog especially looks a lot better in person.

Lovely!
:-*
(And there is nothing wrong with the dog in the photo! Bloody lovely, too, so it is!)
-
I agree, great job on the dog, especially his face!
-
Great job. A nice collection of gloomy models. The dog looks very good, I imagine that the colors are a bit washed out in the picture. I always have a bit of trouble when I want to take pictures of something that's brown...brown in pictures is my nemesis, even with the right lighting conditions I just can't get it right.

Thank you Mason Ray Rivers and Necrocannibal!

I've found I get my best photography results on a overcast day. On a sunny day, even in the shade, the colors and highlights tend to get washed out.

The new stuff looks amazing!

Thanks Styx!

Your thread is a lot of fun to read through. There is much to use as inspiration here.
Quite a nice collection of figures.
I need to get some of those ghasts you are using as dimensional shamblers.
-
Fantastic stuff! Really nice to see more of your paintjobs 8)
-
Thanks Annerios and Malebolgia. :D
I appreciate the kind words.

Kitrok and I managed to play a Cthulhu Mythos game yesterday.
I forgot to take more pictures and the ones I did where pretty blurry.

I managed to get a few minis painted this week.
These are WIPs needing basing and final touch ups.

Those Rattrap fellas are very nice, in a disturbing, sickly and ugly kind of way.
::)
Nice work, particularly the Priestly fella.
:)
-
Yea, I keep trying to avoid buying more Hybrids until I catch up on what I have in the Strange Aeons pile.
-
Thanks Mason.
They really are nice models styx. I highly recommend them.
-
Looking very cool. Browsing through this great thread has sorely tempted me to embark on a Cthulhu project! I think it'll probably be for the best if I resist and just follow yours instead!
-
Those are really cool minis...the brushwork brings out the cool aspect. The Lads bring up images of the dockside on a foggy night...I can almost hear the eerie wail of the foghorn in the distance. VERY WELL DONE!
-
Thanks Funghy-Fipps and thanks again DeafNala.

Ah go on then. You know you want to. I'd love to see what you paint up.
-
I managed to get a little more work done.
As per the usual WIPs I show, they need some touching up and basing.
-
Excellent work on the Innsmouth look :)
-
Yea, great hybrids....
-
Thanks guys. :D
I've noticed taking a picture of a WIP is a good way of seeing trouble areas on a miniature.
Now the only question is will I be to lazy to go back and fix them or not. ;D
-
Nice progress on your banjo-playing residents!
:-*
Some really nice figures there.
I have plans to do my own Hybrid family at a later date.
Between these and a Black Cat Bases selection, it is something that I am really looking forward to.
I am enjoying watching your work on these.
It will really help me in deciding on a skin tone for mine when I get there.
:D
-
Thanks Mason!

Make sure you share the pics!
-
Really freeky, great paint job ! :)
-
Thanks ollv!
-
I really like the color on these as well. Not to hijack the forum but Aggro, all of your stuff is awesome.
You know what I would really like to see? Some scales! Can you imagine some scales climbing up the arms and around the neck. Are there any companies that sculpt hybrids with scales?
-
Are there any companies that sculpt hybrids with scales?
Not that I know of.
Of course if you are einarolafson, you just paint them on yourself. :D

Excellent as usual. You should have a nice Cthulhu miniatures collection now. I wish mine will be finished soon too.
-
Thanks YIU!
-
Sooo,
how many figures in your collection?
Went back and looked at the thread from the beginning.
Lost count. Spend to much time looking at them.
Really love all you have painted.
-
Thanks Marine0846!
Maybe I take a couple group shots...
-
Lovely painted minis, congrats!
-
I finished these models! More or less. :D

There's more pics of these and other recently painted models here.

If you're interested in that sort of thing.
Suggestions are welcome as I have not sealed them yet!
-
Damn fine work here, my man.
-
Well done, Aggro!
-
Fantastic family shot there, aggro.
They look great!
:-*
I really need to get me some of those.
;D
-
Thanks, Mason, Prof, and Yetis Yell.
I'm glad you liked them. :D

Kung Fu Vs. Zombies- The Bat Rep That Wasn't
I wasn't sure which thread to put this in. I figured Call of Cthulhu was close enough!

It certainly looks like the Tong have their hands full!
-
Yes, it's a shame we didn't get to play! :'(
-
Looks like you have the making of a great battle.
Look forward to reading it.
-
Thanks Marine0846! :D
-
Great work. Your hybrids are dimly terrible. The basing looks great. I'm always in a hurry by the time I get to basing that I tend to rush it.
-
Thanks Skrapwelder!

Wow! No new Mythos miniatures since November 2012!
I bought the Shadows of Brimstone swamp set a few months ago but never got around to painting any of them. The game itself seems like a great buy with tons of minis, cards, tiles and tokens; but, I have yet to play.
Be warned though, assembling the plastic minis was mind numbing. I have put together other plastic minis before, but for some reason these were pretty tough.
I used multiple layers of watered down white glue as an easy way to fill in the numerous gaps.
My approach to painting these was sort of a rough sketch concept, quick and dirty but with (hopefully) interesting blended colors. I quickly got the paint down and added highlights inks and powders.
For the effort I made, I'm pretty happy with the results so far.

I like the overall effect, especially on those more 'normal' folk.

And welcome back to the Dark Side, aggro.
It has been some time, indeed.
:D
