Title: A little Diorama
Post by: Sangennaru on January 27, 2012, 01:34:38 PM
Hi everyone! =)

Yesterday, no, the day before, i tried an experiment using a very secret technique (I'll release a tutorial soon!) for a realistic way to obtain medieval-reinassance style glasses for windows and stuff.
Now, since i was REALLY pleased with the result, i started sculpting a little diorama, to enhance the potentialities of such a great glass.

I had to put a miniature behind the diormaa, since with a flat white background the glass isn't that effective.

Please, feel free to comment, both on the glass and on the diorama. It took me approx one day to complete... i've to say that even though i'm pretty fast to sculpt and assemble stuff, i'm definitely slow at painting! :P

Hope you like, comments are welcome!

The glass works really well.  So, who is lurking on the other side of it?

 :o :o :o

What a fantastic tutorial!

I am sooo glad that I am moving off of my Mordheim project, or I can see myself spending far too long adding broken windows to everything!

It is a fantastic idea, and I WILL be giving it a go when I go back to making more scenery.
This would be perfect for adding some more realism, especially to the church/temple.

Thank you very much for the tutorial.
You are a genius, sir!

 :D

Please if you build something, send me some pictures and reports!! it's the best way to me to learn more stuff!
And also a nice way to add stuff on my site! ;)
that's meant for everyone!

This is another great tutorial from you. The glass looks excellent. I have filed this away in my head as a new technique to try one day. Really appreciate you sharing your terrain magic!

Wow! what a cool idea.  :-*

Honestly though, did you really think it was going to work when you thought of it?  ;)

Garlic bag?  Hmm, I was thinking it was from a bag of oranges (same sort of bag found locally).  By the way, here in the US, the material for weddings is called 'tule.'  Very nice, as others have commented.

hahaha, i hoped that a lot! ;)

Well, The orange bag has quite a whider pattern. I want to try various nets, but at the moment i didn't have any other net! ;)

right, Tule is the right name! :)

That looks great!
I do a very similar technique, using wireform mesh and water effects. I've also been able to color the glass by using simple felt tip markers, adds color but stays transparent.
