Hey everyone
So thanks to some of the great threads on this board, my Hyborian game is well underway (pics to come when i nab the nice cameras from work)
For the game i'm looking at having a wizard type for the gangs, but getting the right feel for the minis hasn't been easy, so i'd love to hear some ideas you folks have.
Right now i'm working on Aquilonia, Corinthia and Nordheim gangs, so i'm sort of looking for scholar types for the Aquilonia and Corinthia and shaman/druids for Nordheim.
I've seen that Reaper have a Socrates model that might work for a Corinthian Scholar, and they have some interesting Druids, especially Roshtand the Green (although i think that'd work better for a Cimmerian Oracle)
What would you guys use?
Thanks

I would try to get some of these old Citadel ones. I've already purchased a couple and I'm in love with them. Fantastic miniatures, with loads of character. Well, you'll need some time at ebay getting them but it's worth it.

Those are nice, certainly have plenty of character, i really like the "scrolls and spell books" mini, he'd be perfect for a young Aquilonian scholar.
During my search, I came across this mini who i think would make for a good Vanir or Aesir Shaman

So far, this mini has been the most suitable for a Corinthian Scholar

Hi !
I wouldn`t give any Shaman to Aesir or Vanir. It just doesnt fit in my opinion.
According to Howard works the Norse people like Aesir, Vanir and Cimmerians relished battle and didnt use Magic. I would say they despised it !
If Shamans or magic than choose Hyperborea. That was the land of Wizzards and Witches in the North of the Hyborian world.
The Corintian scholar looks perfect to me!
Cheers

I'm planning on using this guy from Fantization Miniatures (when he's released) as a wizard in my sword and sorcery games...

I always imagined that the Northerners may have, very rarely, oracles, kind of like the types who would rummage through the guts of an animal and declare that "The winter will be harsh this year" :D But the more I think about it, the more I'm going to leave them out.
That sorcerer mini is brilliant though, and I'll be picking it up for sure. It's right out of the pages of the old Conan comics :)

I'm with the prof I have a few of those and maybe even a few to trade
If I have got any it would be:
Staff 3
Skull Staff
Wizard 2 (I def have this one but it needs stripping)
Wizard 7
Wizard 8
Though I might not be able to find them (except 2 or course I saw him today!)

This is a must for a Pictish shaman:

It's Mirliton (former Grenadier).
They have also this one:

For Aquilonia I'd go for some Greek vibe:

Or you can try the classic hooded wizard which never fails:

However in Conan stories magic is usually associated with demons, so I'm not sure kings would use them. Perhaps clerics instead.

The one with the snake is fantastic.
