Title: Fantasy battle report in 10 mm. and end of a campaign.
Post by: blacksmith on March 03, 2012, 09:18:41 AM
This is the last chapter of a campaign I started more than a year ago with the rules Warrior Heroes Armies and Adventurers from Two Hour Wargames which I enjoyed a lot. I hope you like it too:

Great report, always seems like the THW games create a great narrative.

Was the PEF designed by you for solo play?

Yes, I decided to include one ogre in the PEF in the castle and another one in the following PEF; and fill the rest with Orcs.

PEFs are a mechanic from THW rulesets for solo play, nothing from my invention.

The rules are really good but confusing sometimes. THW new rulesets are coming out much more clear now.
Ed has just said on TMP that a WHAA new supplement is being made at the moment. In the meantime you could download for free CR Swordplay Final Version and give it a try to see if you like the system.

I just finished reading through the entire chronicle. It was brilliant! It's great how well 10mm works for this type of game as well. What figures did you use? If you don't mind me asking annoying questions, how easy was it to separate some of the 10mm figs from the strips most manufacturers produce them on?

It's fairly easy, even for me, but there are some that are simply moilded together with a swors or bow so these you could base together or lose a figure (Copplestone orc bows for example or warmaste empire with plume hats)

Pendraken are all loose any way...

Just got them, but at 47 pages there seem almost complete enough for me!

Have a lootk at the Orc's Drfift 10mm, it's what turned me on to 10mm!

Thank you Gibby. The minis come from Pendraken, Copplestone, GW's Warmaster range and Eureka. Practically all of them came loose, even Warmaster figures as most of them are from Command and skirmishers packs.
Check my 10mm gallery to see them big: http://javieratwar.blogspot.com/search/label/Gallery.%2010%20mm. (http://javieratwar.blogspot.com/search/label/Gallery.%2010%20mm.)

Sorry I missed this.
At the start of the game you randomly deploy three PEFs on the board, behind cover whenever possible. In every turn they move like any figure but according to what you roll in a chart. When one of your figures has LOS to one of them, it is inmediately resolved.
To resolve the PEF you first roll to see if it is the main group, stragglers or just a false alarm. If there is something, then you roll to see how much they are and finally what creatures are and it there is a boss among them.

This way you never know when, who and how much you are going to meet in any moment during the game.

Those Pendraken figures look great.  You really got a lot of personality out of them.  I just ordered a batch myself - hope my painting can do them justice like yours do.

Yes, 10mm admit a lot of detail and are easy and fast to paint and the same time.
Thank you!  :)
