We've played a "Bull Run to Gettysburg" game twice this week here in GHQ. I won the first, against Phil, and Jon won the second, against me. Here are some pictures from today's defeat... :'(

South Carolina and Virginia Brigades enter the table from the South East...
...while the Union's leading Brigade enters the table, from the North of course!
And begins its deployment to flank the Rebs...
...who in turn deploy to exchange fire with 'those people'...

In the meantime, elements of the North Carolina Brigade move through the corn field...
...catching the Union column in the flank!

Despite being surprised, the Iron Brigade manages to deploy and a fierce firefight develops.
Unable to dislodge the Rebs anywhere along their line and having the worse, by far, of the exchanges of fire the Union force is forced to withdraw...
...when the 24th Michigan's morale snaps under withering fire.

The victorious Rebs' view of the field at the game's conclusion.
Ten turns played in about two hours. The figures are almost all Dixon Miniatures. The buildings are by Architectural Heritage. The fences are scratchbuilt, as were the corn fields {from an old artificial Christmas tree}. The trees are from The Last Valley.

Great eyecandy, thanks for sharing :-*

A grand sight and good to see the good boys of Dixie turning around Monday's disasterous outing, I blame the General ;)
-
Great stuff Dave.
It's reminded me I must break out the troops and give the playsheets Phil made (when you were in Oz) a go. :)

A grand looking game.
After all these years I still love Dixon's Civil War figures.
Some of the best.
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks to the four people who bothered to leave a comment of some sort.
I've supposed for a while now that there's not much call for 'wargames' on this site? Would I be right that most members are content with a few figures and a skirmish type of game? No problem with that, but I do love to see larger games myself.

Well Done, that man!!!! :)

Dave, just because people don't comment, doesn't mean that they don't appreciate your work. A truer picture would be to note the number of views (currently 139).
Nice game, by the way. 8)

Its up to your usual excellent standards, wonderful stuff. :-*
And I love wargaming with any number of figures. :D
The bigger the battle the more spectacular ;D

That's just it though for me really: more figures equals a greater spectacle. That's not to take away from the excellent painting shown by chaps and chapesses with less meglomaniacal tastes...
