Cool, second place! Well done Diego Diz for his first place. I love the wee space shuttle. I especially love the use of razors as landing legs! Very inspired!!

Many thanks to Roebeasts for holding the comp. I had great fun building something I normally wouldn't build. Cheers

This was my entry. The Spy-DAR...

Some marvellous stuff there (and an insight into the boggling array of packaging used for sweets these days).

3rd place! yay! :)

Congrats to both Diego and Andy for staying ahead of me; your entries were simply awesome and both placings are well deserved.

I loved doing this; I'll be sure to be there next year, as I really had a blast.

Good thing I did not go with my original idea for my gumball machine though; I had just seen Apollo 18, and when I bought that container, the shape immediately said 'Russian Lunar Module' to me. Or, as the idea developed; S.I.D. from UFO. But then I realised that I was also required to take a picture in terrain, with accompanying miniatures, and I did not fancy also having to paint up a bunch of astronauts and creating a lunar surface... ::)

So a fantasy building it became. I mean come on: the theme was 'Observation', so what would be more suitable than an observatory?

I read the comment of the judges, and it was stated that it would look ace in a village/town setting. So that's what I'm building right now. Progress reports and pics on those buildings to be posted soonish.

And of course I'll post a whole slew of extra WIP pictures of the observatory when I'm back home from work, with a little run-down of the building process.

Podium place! Woohoo! :D

Congratulations, guys! I'm astonished by the artistry of the entries (well, the other entries  ;) ) -- and bandit86, your lunar scene is adorable.

Hi all, I'm Diego Diz  ;)
Thx a lot for all your comments, and thx a lot for this first place in the contest. When I saw the Andym's spy-DAR first pictures a few days ago I tought: "wow, this contest will be hard".
There's a lot of very talented scratchers in this contest. I love the "70`s style" of Andym's huge spy DAR, and the Daeothar 's Rupelmundus's Observatory is abosultly gorgeous. I really like the slide hatch in the roof. The bandit86's rodent shuttle has a lovely Flash Gordon style.

Congratulations to all the entrants, your works are great!

When I'll return home after work I'll post some pictures of my entry ;)

Daeothar
Please do post some works in progress for your observatory!  I really like your weathered copper painting for the dome.

I'm so pleased with this year's contest and the quality of the entries. The biggest reason that I put this contest together is to inspire myself and others to create and finish big, exciting projects. I get so many ideas from each entry that it fuels me up and makes me want to get back to the work table and start making something amazing.

I've started posting links to blogs or other pages that have more pictures of the entries. If you entered and want a specific link on your entry please let me know.

I have no specific place to post them, other than here. But I will start a thread with a full rundown of the build, the parts etc, so you could link to that?
