Title: Warforged type models other than WOTC?
Post by: Faust23 on March 12, 2012, 06:49:09 PM
I'm considering using some warforged/metallic golem type minis.  Anyone know of any outside the D&D Miniatures range?

Thanks

Pretty sure Reaper has a bunch that'd fit the bill.

I don't know much about the Warforged but would the mechs from Warmachine be way out of bounds?

the warmachine mechs would be a bit too big, wf are humanoid sized living constructs, a pretty good idea if im honest

i used to dm eberron and one of my regular group loved wf characters, he made a few minis to use for his characters from mixing space marines and chaos warrior parts, which looked surprisingly effective as he wasnt the best modeller around !

Reaper.  Mageguard Golem.  Just type Golem into the search engine and you'll find at least two that are great.

If I recall, it's the heads/faces, that really make the warforged look like warforged.
Couldn't you then just buy a bunch of the plastic ones and do head swaps to whatever body you fancied?

I use this for my warforged fighter.  He's fairly large, but I love him.  The sword arm is a separate piece on a ball joint.  Point the sword upwards, and BAM!  Instant Warlord.

I'm aware of the reaper one. It's awesome and will find its way into my collection.  I will probably have to scrounge some plastic wotc figs for the rest.

Fenryll produce this metal golem - who looks a bit more like a Shield Guardian than a Warforged if you ask me.

I'm more than definitely sure he's bigger than the average human - but since to my knowledge the Warforged were forged to fight in a war as weapons of destruction, bigger should be better.
I'm betting you could make use of some super hero figures for this - I.E. all the Iron Mans from everything ever.  :D

Wow. Thanks for the tip. That Fenryll fig looks perfect!

I'm pretty sure the old Mage Knight prepaints had some figs that could work as warforged.

I apologize for the thread necromancy, but all of the Iron Man minis in the Heroclix line work wonders when properly converted.

You could search for demonworld 15mm elementals. They size bigger than standard 28mm heroic figure, and you've got diferent kinds (fire, earth, metal). They can make all sort of golems.

In chronopia range, you also have an obsidian golem :
