Title: Clubs first AWI games...
Post by: V on March 17, 2012, 01:42:22 PM
Some pics from two games of AWI... The first ones for the club project!

Numbers made up with the addition of some French SYW pretending to be both French, and German Allies... Good fun but two heavy losses for the Yanks. Mainly due to Red Indian Ninjas and British Dragoons riding Red Rums ancestors...

The highlight of game 1 was certainly the 17th Dragoons lightening fast charge down the table to catch the Continental Brigade in column of march and scatter them to the four winds while the Militia Brigade crumbled in front of the German Brigade.

Game 2 was eventful for the Militia holding up the Germans and the Indians running down the exposed flank of the Continental line to get behind the entire brigade and attack them in the rear, including chopping up an unfortunate gun battery. Though the New Hampshire Continentals mad charge (from a blunder) 36" across the table to engage the New Hampshire Loyalist Militia spoke of really bad blood in that County. They got a whipping from the Loyalists though!

All could have been so different.

If the French Brigade had wheeled in behind the Continentals and march along the river they could have deployed into line facing the British. Instead they ran down a road blocked by a howitzer Battery and some fast approaching British Grenadiers.

Very nice set of figures.
Many years ago I decided to do F&I War instead of AWI.
Sometimes I wish I had gone the other way.
Thanks for sharing.
