Fantastic :-*
Having finally watched the new prequel and being just about to put on the Carpenter version later today I really must find time to move up the snowcat/snowvee models on the to-do list.....
Here are the first minis from a sideproject I started last year.Freaky, those are really good sculpts. I especialy like the big guy.

More minis on the way include scientists, mainly crooked dice, soldiers 4A miniatures snowtroopers and Fenris investigators.
Fenris have some new pieces coming out soon which will be great for this.
Looks like lots of people are going to be starting a similar project.
Like how you have done the little head crawlers.

Love these, there was a great thing project over on Secrets of the Third Reich last year, used GW chaos wolves to great effect and some really nice carpenteresque 'constructs'. Oh and snow bases too! ;)Sorry Commander no snowbases as they will be mostly inside and only occasionally outside. I prefer the utility of the clear bases. ;)
Edit: posted earlier by someone else. Thib_o bloody lovely and really grotesque.
That is a good question...
I am not sure yet but I want to incorporate mechanisms for fear, trust/suspicion, infection etc.
The players will have control of one character each and can have a few followers that will be governed by the rules above.
I was thinking about the same game mechanics but the trust/suspicion is the hardest part unless may be you use specific gaming cards.I was thinking about tokens for the trust/suspicion bit, Trust tokens earned by killing things, providing ammo or better weapons, using/giving first aid kits on/to followers.
Have you read the free boardgame/cardgame rules or will you use something else ?
You have a PM mate, you mind need to put a spoiler alert on that map as I'm only getting round to watching the prequel tonight all being well and as I was scrolling through I thought...better not look at that too closely. ;) (Map covers JC's and prequel correct?).The maps are a few years old at least, so they cover mainly the JC version. Indirectly as the 2011 is a prequel they might be a spoiler for that as well. I added a spoiler warning though as I do not want to ruin anyone's enjoyment of any of the films. :)
Cheers
The Commander

Great project. I guess you have all the figures you need but Regiment Games has some nice Arctic types in their Ice Station Zebra range. These are interesting, and I might include them, thanks :D
I think the rights to the sculpts go back to the sculptors.I am sure some have made it into other ranges.
Started to look for usefull stuff for a project like this myself now.Anyone know where to get a big Submarine?
:-* :-* :-*
Wonderful!
Everything about this project is turning out so well.
Any chance of listing where all the internal furniture is from for future reference?

Loose barrels: max mini I think.
Gas tubes, water dispensers: Ainsty
Autopsy table, fire extinguishers: Black cat bases.
First aid cabinets: Fenris Games
I will also cross-use some terrain pieces, like the file cabinets etc from my Fallout project in post-apocalytic tales.
The water storage pieces are really cool.
I was not satisfied with the arm thing so I pulled it apart, added new legs and made 2 more to accompany it...
I need to start my Thing project, this is very inspiring. Might even buy some of manics snow troopers!
Is this project 289# ;D lol
Is this project 289# ;D lolVery possibly
Thanks for that!! Going to give it a go.
Or I can just pm you my home address! ;)
This is an amazing piece of work ! :o :-* :o :-*Coming from you that is high praise indeed. I have almost finished painting it so hopefully more pictures in a couple of days,
So disgustingly cool. 8)
Trust 1 The character is now seen as a thing and an enemy, will attack. 2 Suspicious, will attack if provoked. 3 Will not take orders. 4 Will not do dangerous tasks 5 Suspicious, but can be convinced 6 Wary 7 Beginning to trust the character 8 Trusts the character 9 Will side with the character if attacked. 10 100 % Trust, wont loose trust over decisions made. |
I have thoroughly enjoyed reading through this thread. I'm looking forward to seeing it restart.
This is great! I never seen the film, but this is making me want to! lol

Good start, Anpu, like the table with the thing on it. I really have to see the movie.
You absolutely have to! And the pre-sequel isn´t that bad either. I recommend to watch the newer movie first if you haven´t seen both yet, because it tells the story chronologically.
Great restart mate! I look forward to the base :) Will you use the same stuff you did for Alien or build completely new?
Skander
Thanks!
Hopefully there will be an 1982 type station unless I decide to go the scifi route and use the Alien Colony buildings.
Just want to give an opposite view on seeing the films. If you have never seen them the prequel copies the dramatic beats of the original so closely that it will spoil the impact of the original which is far superior and a genuine classic. Imagine how all of the great plot surprises of star wars are spoilt by watching the prequels first? That. Watching chronologically is more fun if you already have seen the original! Just my tuppence worth about one of my favourite films!
Could you do both? I was hoping to use my Prodos xenos with my scifi project and with my Miniature Mojo winter figures that I was looking to use for a Thing project.Yes knowing myself I will most likely do both....
I agree completely. I forgot that fact, but it´s true. Better watch the old John Carpenter movie first, let it settle for a while and then watch the new movie followed again by the old one! That would most likely be the best approach! :D
Glad to see that you are still working on this.
:D
Me too :D
Nice work.Thanks!

This is some good thaw!
Just reading through this thread for the first time. What a treat. :-* :-* :-*
This forum is full of the best stuff ever....
Yep. This is sweet... The more Kurt Russell minis, the better! Gotta add the big hat somehow. Green stuff! He has a hat it just hangs behind him in his back.
Nice to see this project moving forward. No blog just the threads scattered around LAF.
Do you still have a blog with the games on it that you have played?
