Post by: einarolafson on April 11, 2012, 04:20:33 PM
I have found this blog http://yog-blogsoth.blogspot.co.uk/ (http://yog-blogsoth.blogspot.co.uk/). I like a lot the drawing style of this man. Maybe it has been posted before, but just in case it hasnīt...

Cheers.

It is nice enough a page and the artist does have a flair for the weird, but many if not most of his depictions are not in any way canonical. In fact, many can't possibly be that.

I've discovered this blog some time ago. I like the concept of drawing the less known creatures, like the bug people mentioned in "The Shadow Out of Time" or the cat from Saturn, but, as already mentioned above, I don't think that some of those depictations shall be considered canonical, especially Shub-Niggurath or Starspawn. Aren't the Starspawn supposed to have legs, like Cthulhu himself? I believe a sketch of him Lovecraft did showed Cthulhu with legs, so his offspiring shall have them too.

Schrecksenmeister,

I've read and reread most of the HPL stories a few times over the years but I am definitely no expert.
As far as remember the Star Spawn are never actually described. Shub Niggurath, Nug and Yeb are referred to a lot, but never described either.
The tree shaped Dark Young is actually a Robert Bloch creation, but he calls it a shoggoth in the story.
I've noticed that a lot of Chaosium additions to the Mythos are now seen as canonical.

Again, I'm no expert and these are just observations.  :D
