Title: A couple of new sculpts VSF/Steampulp - Finished, painted and ready to go.
Post by: Melnibonean on April 12, 2012, 02:27:19 PM
Hey there folks, I have a couple of new sculpts that are going in to be cast tomorrow but I thought I'd best let the fine gentlemen and rapscallions of LAF have a look before that happens. I hope you like them.

First is this little lady. I'm going to call her Betty Blockbuster.

And her trusty sidekick: Miss Violet

Yes she does. But it was completely intentional. Her name just sort of says... Larger than life! ::)

cheers

Definitely Steampunk.

Definitely Steampunk.

Yes but I'd be happy to put the top figure into my Wild West Scientist force, just cut the hat down a little and put a groove in the centre :)

How long before Pappa Midnight adds the first one to his zombie hunters?

Well, I had to wait for a while to get these little ladies mouled and cast but the wait was worth it. They came out beautifully and I'mnot sure my crappy paint job does them justice. But... Here they are.

They're avaiable from: www.fiendishfabrications.com.au

Who sculpted them?

They have a Shadowforge style to them, but the closed mouth on Violet would be a case against that :)

I like them quite a bit myself, although I don't have many Victorian hussies in my collection.

The second one looks like Steve Saleh's work, if I had to guess.

Like Betty more than Violet.

Unless I'm mistaken Melnibonean does his own sculpting... and stunts, I believe.

You've really come along way from your first sculpts, that's great to see!

Like Betty more than Violet.

I like Betty more than Veronica.

But as far as the minis are concerned, they are a bit immodest. Fine looking sculpts, though.

I have it! They're suffragists! The horror!

She's 28mm to the eyes. About 33mm with the top hat.

Yes I sculpted them and thanks for the positive comment. My sculpting has improved - And keeps improving with steep learning curves.

Suffragists - I like that. I like that alot!

Thanks for all the positive replies folks.

Betty is a nice lady but I neither get nor like the shield (and it doesn't look easy to mod off either) ???

Very nice.

There is no difference between VSF and Steampunk in my opinion. :P

There is an entire thread or two dedicated to that topic. I think they are quite different, personally, as VSF does not require the dystopian view of steampunk.

And Frank Chadwick claims no difference, which, as the main force behind Space 1889, gives him some gravitas in such discussions.

Being the curmudgeon, I won't stop disagreeing, mind you.  ;)

Frank does, indeed, have a claim to much gravitas in this discussion.

Being a Curmudgeon-in-Training - I am only 40, so haven't met the age requirement yet - I will still disagree. But with more respect than I would give to any punk kids. Who had better stay off my lawn!
