Title: Skyscraper airport 1939
Post by: Trencher on January 28, 2008, 09:15:19 PM
I've found this on TMP and thought it would fit in there. Reminds me a little bit to some drawings of Bruce McCall...

Have fun!

I like it, would be a nice 45A scenario!

Now THERE'S a terrain piece.

You can play inside the terrain piece itself. But don't lose your way! Now I wonder who will build a "Hindenburg III" in 28mm???

No, I think the Prof. has it right. You could do a .45 Adventures game (or series of games) where the boards are different sections of the rooftop airport.

It reminds me of a Bruce McCall illustration. If you can pick up "Zany Afternoons," it's well worth it.

What an awesome design.

I suppose it might be possible in 1/300 scale....

Does anyone know if this actually happened?

No it did not. Only one airship ever attempted a mooring at the building and it was much smaller. The air drafts at the top would have slammed an airship into the sides of the building.

I can see the scenario now, German commandos have secured the building and huge airships are in rout to deploy the first of several divisions for the conquest of the Americas.  It is up to you and your rag tag group of National Guard, Police and G-Men to dislodge these commandos so that these invaders can be easily picked off from the air with no where safe to land their fascist cargo.  "Lock and load boys we got a country to save!"

I must build this. Should be pretty easy with foamcore and other techniques. Finally some cool and different terrain for a con game!

Make the players have to climb the stairs... heh that in itself would require several gaming sessions!
