I thought we could all contribute to this and then start a new one for February etc. Sort of like the 'latest **** received' threads.
I'll start shall I?
49 miniatures in January, Ghouls (36) Deadside thingies (6) and Weird War II (7) Although there's considerable cross-over use between the two settings :)
I've posted full details of what's what and where it came from (along with a bigger picture) here:
http://www.matakishi.com/paintinglog2008.htm

But January isn't over yet! I can get a few more things done if I keep at it :D
Looking good Matakishi. I recognize that iron giant, I have five of them painted up as well!
-
I saw the Iron Giants on your site, very nice, I may have to get more although I have Hydra robots en-masse so I ought to use them instead.
I won't get anything else finished in January because I'm starting on my Mogadishu figures tonight (something else I saw on your website, great minds really DO think alike  ) so I thought I'd get in early and start the ball rolling.
-
It's like you're trying to make me feel bad for not having painted anything new for months! I'll just go sob silently in the corner, shall I? :P
-
Heavens - Matakishi, you have been productive!
I shared my church already...
I've actually painted several figures too in January - problem is, if I publish them now, I've shot my bolt and won't be able to use them in the next Lead Painters' League...

My take exactly! I think this is an excellent thread, though.
I didn't paint much but I did write a book.
-
Nice job man! I almost didn't recognize those ghouls
-
I didn't paint much but I did write a book.
tell more :)
-
This is really great work in such a short time. What I like the best is that all fits perfect together. Great stuff. And I like your Cuthbert so much. He is great.
Cheers

great idea and very nice paintig output :) like these two "Herren in Schwarz", Schulz und Schulze?

Oh.
This isn't a good idea then is it :(

I probably shouldn't have said anything. :( In some senses it's not fair to you guys - the painters and terrain people always share what they've done, freely and openly. Holding back the book stuff is necessary from a business standpoint, but not terribly open-spirited.
I hope you'll like the book. I like it a lot. I think it's better than Under the Black Flag.

RATS ... forget the legal requirements ... just give us the juice of it

I think it's a great idea - I'll enjoy looking at your stuff and others
Mine will probably only get revealed when LPL comes round again... (Unless the Prof decides to relent on the proposed rule change for season 2 which says only entries previously unpublished anywhere on the web will be allowed... Perhaps a special dispensation for figures which have only previously been reported on the LAF 'what I painted this month thread'? )
But seriously, I don't mind either way.
Truthfully, I'm not even sure I can go through another LPL season - it was quite intensive last time round! Lots of figures I really should have got on and painted got put into abeyance in favour of lots I didn't need to paint at all and may never use! Ah well - we shall see, when it comes to it again... My evil competitive inner self probably won't be able to resist...
-
What is all that red stuff? I see a Red Skull in there, very nice. Still no Cap yet though?
Brian

Wow, better then under the Black Flag?! That was my first book into the age of sails and it was an incredible read. Bummer ending but isn't most true history anyway. Look forward to it then.
The most vivid part is when they tun over the boat to scrape all the barnical and replace all the wood infested with sea worms. I couldn't fathom using ropes and island trees to tip over a ship in my wildest dreams. Great stuff.

Matakishi: What a production ... impressive!
I like the ogre and the tortured victim chained to the rock  Perhaps the color of the blood is a bit too red - but the rest WOW :o
I have not been able to paint for quite a long time now - too much to do at work and in the evenings, eyes and hands are too tired. I just have one piece to show -- bear with me, it is the first attempt after many months ...

I am quite happy about the face expression ... comments are welcome

I'm with Rhoderic on this one. My output was a fat zero during january! The mind was willing, but somehow lethargy took hold during January, must be the psot Christma blues. So with Matakishi in mind for inspiration, here's to a productive february :)

Ah yes, well spotted. I knew I'd forget something. As you can see from the photo the gloss varnish on the blood wasn't dry so the chestnut wash hadn't gone on yet.
All fixed now and matches Killjoy's bloodied base.
I like the rust on your troll's weapon very much.
-

Brian
Captain America is half done, as is Bucky. Both have to wait awhile until I finish my Somalis now.
The red things are my Blood Ghouls who infest the Deadside wastes in Shadowman. They are also Red Russian Ghouls who will be driving hordes of reanimated German zombies back towards Berlin in my Weird War II games (backed up by Russian troops and walkers obviously :) )

Very nice and off to a flying start I see.
I havent done as well as you but not too bad either.
Lots of Dinos and animals (some or rather most the diddy 15mm ones) 46 in total
10 Aztecs
16 Soviets
10 Cavemen plus finished the basing on all 78...lol
Edit ooh yes lots of Gravestones (thanks again Captain Blood) and pardulan corner bases :D
-
This is what I painted in January. (Also includes making those hills and building a ship on the side. The ship still might get finished before the end of the month.)

One has LOTS of free time in Iowa in the dead of winter. :)

Were do you guys find this stuff? Can you tell me where the Iron Giant is from?
Excellent painting, by the way. :)
Edit: Ok, to busy looking at the lovely mini's, lol. eBay what a place.
-
No where near the level of Matakishi's work but I did get some painting done recently.
Two units of Red Martians converted from Foundry Aztecs.
The conversion work was done through December but I didn't start painting until January.

Actually It's allowed to put entries previously showed, no problem at all, but you won't get any bonus points for newly painted team. The fact is very many entries of the Season 1. were just old stuff people put in and got bonus points. All what I try to reach is to reward all the efforts of the people who really paints something new for the LPL. I think it is just fair isn't it?

I like it, too, it looks so real! Well done!
-
Well, I almost finished 3 copplestone plague zombies :(
I may just get the 3rd one finished this evening..... and maybe start the 4th.
I like that fat ogre with the cleaver. Reminds me of 'The Butcher' from a certain hack'n'slash video game
Where did those ghouls come from? Heresy?
-
A grand total of 6 minis painted in January. (Although there is one nearly finished that might just make it too...)
(http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb155/GrunterPulpit/photo023a.jpg) (http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb155/GrunterPulpit/photo019a.jpg)

And half a dinosaur.
I don't know how people can paint so much so quickly. I actually thought I had been quite productive this month.
-
Who's the chap with the BAR? He looks kind of Copplestoney, but I don't recognize him.
-
He's from Copplestone's Dino Hunters pack, the one with Groucho Marx in. :)
-
Ah yes. Thanks.
-
I was - for me – quite productive in January.
15mm Demonworld “Knights,” (Three) - or did I finish them in December :?: Foundry “Chinese Pirates”, (Eight) Reaper “Famine” (One) and HF “Harby.” (One)

I fully intend to put the Chinese Pirates into the League and forfeit the "not new" points.

Luckily I've been keeping an "Hobby Diary" since the beginning of 2008 or I would never have been able to be sure what I did this year :)
There I note down:
. Minis bought, painted, etc.
. Games played
. Pretty much anything hobby related.
Pictures later but in January (so far) I've done:
. Started on 4x Grenadiers "de la Vieille Garde" from Frontrank
. Started on Ol'Boney from Perry Miniatures
. Done a French Dragoon Officer (also from Frontrank)
. 10 german zombies from Westwind
. 2 German charaters (one Westwind, one Artizan)
. 2 stands (6 figures) of 15mm Old Glory French Chasseurs à Cheval
. 3 stands (12 figures) of 15mm Old Glory Ligne w/ Greatcoats
. FInished some 3 Battlefront Pumas
Thats about it. Might add a bit come evening though ;)
-

Ok, they're tiny, but 56 : that much more than a fig, a day :o
You are the Master, Prof.

Matt

True - in fact - what is your approach prof - one at a time or batches? Or the whole lot together? Couldn't see myself painting thirty or so pairs of fluffy feet one after the other....

usually one at a time, sometimes I'm going to make batches but only with uniformed ones.
-
Could I ask, that for the sake of my sanity and self image, the Prof. isn't allowed to post on this thread any more?
Excellent work, I am unbelievably jealous. Especially of the halflings.

Now your just abusing sarcasm. :D

Prof, you're incredible. 8) 8) 8)

OK, since it's still January for a few hours, I can officially up my total from six to eight.
One more Pulp adventurer, and one which I'm not sure I can post here.
Would anyone object if I put up pics of the Zombie Hitler I made for Weird War II, or is that skirting a bit close to the "no nazi stuff" rule? :?
-
There isn't a 'no Nazi stuff' rule, JollyBob. It's a 'No Swastikas' rule, for legal reasons.
Look around, there's plenty of Nazi stuff in the World Wars and Weird War sections.
I don't know how folks here might feel about a zombie Hitler, but unless he's displaying a Swastika*, he's not actually breaking forum rules as they stand right now.
*If he has one, you could always photoshop it out with a black bar or something.

-
Well I managaed 27 figures this month, a mixture of 20mm, 28mm and a couple of 54mm. Purchases came to 48.
-
Well here we go. Just finished up the last four minis right before midnights.
This is the last ten days or worth of projects
(http://pinphoto.tripod.com/gah/jan08end.jpg)
This is stuff I finished earlier this month. A few of these were started but most of them were painted up compleatly this month.
And here is a desert terrain set my wife and daughter and I finished.

Right. I guess that's what I meant. Ok, I'll maybe pop him into the relevant forum over the weekend, but I'm still not sure about it.
Thanks for the input though.
@ Ironworker: That's some excellent work. And a "proper" Bloodletter, if I'm not mistaken. Nice job!
-
@ Ironworker: That's some excellent work. And a "proper" Bloodletter, if I'm not mistaken. Nice job!
Yeah I really like to use the old Bloodletters for lesser demons and devils. They look so twisted and alien while still reading as demons. I'm not a big fan of the new ones.
-
I agree, the original sculpts were excellent, different and scary. New ones are just beastmen.
And the Zombie Hitler question has resolved itself. I can't post pictures of him, because he's not finished. Something was bugging me about it, and after a quick Google, I realised I've painted him the wrong sodding colour. :x And I've already varnished him too.
So my total for January reverts to seven. Not happy with that, really.
-
Looks like 23 figures for me plus various scenery projects, all listed on my paint log as usual
http://www.nick101.f9.co.uk/Log/January08.htm
