I while ago I bought the Mongrel Miniatures Israeli infantry in soft hats.
The figures are fantastic, there's just one downside...
They're all carrying the Galil, there's not so much as a single FN MAG in the set.
I doubt it was it practice for Israeli light infantry to go without support weapons. Does anyone know if Mongrel had been planning to add LMGs and the likes at a later stage

Couldn't you just do headswaps with the helmeted versions?

Well, yes. Actually I could...

I thik there were plans when run by Frank in the UK but havent seen much come out from them since bought out a few years ago other than some Commandoes in winter gear and that must be at least 4 years ago I saw the greens on their old Yahoo group. :?

Now that is a pity! I have to doubt if we'll ever see them.
I haven't seen the commados myself, but from the pictures I've seen the quality is nowhere near what it used to be.
By the way, those greens on the Yahoo group. Were they the Israelis?

Nope sorry they were some more modern Taliban (stinger etc - now relased I beleive) and the commandoes/marines whihc I saw some time ago in the flesh not by Hicksy or Soapy and some anatomy was very dodgy.
Their african mercs were the last that the UK Mongrel had done. :-[
I think the chap that owns the range now is linked to Pontoonier miniatures Newline sell them in the UK now

I remember the Stinger team, it was released around the same time as the downed Russian pilots I think. A nice subtle joke!
Yeah, it's the same fellow. Now operating under the banner of Badger Miniatures and notoriously hard to get in contact with.
I was emailing Newline about the Congo range. The mercenaries are out again, but the African soldiers aren't. Newline have said they'll see what they can do, but they don't know if the miniatures are still around.

I really feel for Newline. The bloke that owns the moulds and masters seems to be a total prat, when it comes to customer service. Pity, some very nice figures in the old
MoFo Mongrel range. Maybe LAFers could club together and offer to buy the masters?

As of last year (or possibly early the year before) Ben Checota (he of Pontoonier/Badger miniatures) wasn't interested in selling the range... I know, I asked :) He also said at that point that he had plans to develop it, but that it'd take a year or two to get things settled. Then again, it must be getting on for 4 or 5 years since he first bough it, so if things aren't settled now I question when they will ever be...

MoFo (http://www.grippingbeast.com/shop.php?CatID=141) are owned by Gripping Beast.... and still very available.
The Mongrel figures are favourites of mine too. There are some gaps in the range iirc... the Simbas being one of them, but also odd packs from within the other ranges. Newline have done a bang up job imo, but I do get the impression that they are rolling the rock uphill as it were. Newline only show what they have stock of, so packs appear and disappear from their website, which doesn't diminish the confusion.
