We played our second game of SAGA this Wednesday and here is the report:

It was Vikings vs. Normans. Some pre-view pictures (many more on the report itself):

Very nice looking game. The terrain is especially eye catching. :)

That does look rather fetching :-*

THX guys!

Sweet looking game.
One of the things I see in many SAGA games is a lack of terrain.
To me that really sets the game apart.
You have that in spades, love it. :-*
-
I think terrain is often the problem. It is sad how often you see great minis on the poorest of terrain. Wargaming is so much about looks and terrain is overlooked far too often!
-
Excellent. I bought Saga and Northern Fury at Salute - saving 12GBP on the pair buying from Dave Thomas. First pukka wargames rules I've bought for 20+ years! I like the look of the game, the mechanics, and the period. Shame I don't have any Dark Ages figures really... ::)
Ah well, there's another project in the pipeline :D
Chatting to Frank last week, he is using Saga for Game of Thrones. Great idea. I'd like to do this too :)

Absolutely stunning. Beautifully painted figures slugging it out on a very impressive battlefield. That is what wargaming is all about. "3D" computer graphics eat your heart out!
-
Absolutely fantastic! Excellent figures and terrain. Thanks for sharing.

Beutiful figures, beutiful terrain, what more can i say?!?!
Puts my scratch made huts to shame :(
Blood, you could always make a battle board for the late medievals...
Vladdrak, totally agree, who would want to play on something virtual when you can make and paint the thing in real life. Long live wargaming!

Brilliant stuff :-* :-*

Very good AAR !!!
Best regards Michael

I can help w/ figs if you'd like a trade! As far as SAGA for other eras, I'm thinking Aztecs and Trojan War....

Thank you guys... This report is going down like a treat it seems!
I have seen Game of Thrones adapttions for SAGA as well, but I have to say, that the battles in the books rather struck me as large affairs, so I am not sure it really fits. Although the fact that one would be able to make do with few minis sure is enticing.

Aztecs Flower Wars would be ideal LB a cracking idea, any help you want drop me a line as I have some lists I worked on with Ralph Khrebs and Chronofus for WAB which would be a good starting point
Trojan war would be good too

Which figures would you use for Game Of Thrones?
-
Hi Willie,
here in Germany a lot of people are preparing Game of Thrones armies using the Impetus rules. The majority of the minis I have seen are Perry WotR. Moistly converted with greenstuff to personal feel (lots of fur for the northerners) or with parts from the Gripping Beast plastics mixed in.
Cheers,
Burkhard
