Title: Northstar Cannibals
Post by: cram on June 03, 2012, 05:32:28 PM
Has anybody seen these yet? I'd like to get a few packs but there are no pics as yet on Northstar's site. Don't want to part with any money before knowing if their any good or not.

Cheers Marc.

Same here.
Theve been availiable on the site for a over a week without pics. Show us greens, unpainted metal, anything will do. Thier other African stuff is nice so I have high hopes. Fingers crossed they are based on historial peoples and not just 'mad, wacky looking' tribesmen.

I was in Northstar the other day and asked about these. I didn't see the figures as the extreme ones were being molded and I forgot to go back and check on the others that were on Nicks desk. I did get a description and the 'intentions' of them though. The first two packs, cannibals with spears/bows, are historical figures although not of any specific tribe. The ritual mask ones are a little pulpy as they have the masks on which are unlikely to have been worn while fighting, but they are all based on real masks. The extreme cannibals however are full on Pulp/Tarzan/King Kong style cannibals. Bones through skin, ritual scars etc.

Yee-ha !   And just the other day I was telling myself I have ENOUGH different African-style tribes.  Seems I was mistaken.  I will need these figures.

Hello Everyone, new boy here. I am awaiting delivery of the aforementioned cannibals. I don't have much going on in my Indoors-Downstairs-Shed at the moment so might be able to make my first project pictures a "before and after". Smashing site by the way.

They have been talking about these since early April; I have given up waiting for pictures. Of course I am sure my enthusiasm will return once they finally put up pics! I am a total sucker for Darkest Africa.  :D

YEE HA !  Those are extremely cool figures !!

Any chance I could buy multiples of some of the excellent shield types so as to have my warriors' shields match?

Keep up the wonderful work !!

Or the extreme ones would work well whilst hunting that giant ape...

It is fine if you specify which shield you'd like. We made a number of different shields, but we always had in mind a tribe would have one specific shield. Because of the way they are moulded, if you don't ask, you get a mix, but it's no effort to put all of one sort in for you.

Had a good look at these the other day, I really like the extreme ones. Historical accuracy be damned, they look cool with the scars etc.

Me too.  It might trigger me to paint the similar OG ones I bought (10?) years ago...

With a thoroughly welcome "plumph" these little chaps landed on my doormat yesterday morning. They are very nicely detailed with plenty of character which really comes through when they have had their first coat of primer... I wanted to post a couple of photos but seem to be having trouble uploading same... Help!

I've paid in the past using PayPal - no problem

Had a sneaky peak over Nick's shoulder the other day in the workshop when buying M&T. I think you'll all be pleased with what's planned for our DA hungry friends ...  :D

Sorry, the way with email and pay and info is not customer-friendly. Even small companies have a good and modern shop-system with paypal. I ordered at four-a-miniature a month ago without three clicks and received my order in nearly a week (from GB to GER). I think for a Internetshop in 2012 it is the normal way, not this stone-age-website...

Depends on how badly you want the goods, I guess. If you are not capable of a few extra clicks and awaiting an email response, then ..................................  :?

I tried to order and stop it. In this times everyone has a facebook-site (our baker has also one!), but no one has a nearly modern website with a customer-friendly shop. It is terrible. Only Lead-Adventure-Miniatures is a good example of a modern website... And it is so simple

Excellent release by North Star!

I can use the masked figures to round out 24 of the Foundry masked natives that I have and I am well chuffed about the native spearmen in the bark loincloth as Foundry makes archers in bark loincloth but no spearmen and thus these spearmen can be paired with the Foundry archers to portray a uniformly dressed tribe.
