I have been lurking on several SAGA threads and blogs and I thought about paint some Vikings. This is the first one from Foundry. I would name him Snorry, I donŽt know, maybe when I paint some more IŽll think about names for them.

Very nice start, but he looks a bit lonely ;)
-
Smooth.
Yet hairy :)
-
Looks very good. Needs Company.
Give SAGA a try... :)
Would love to see a warband of this high standard.
DV
-
Very nicely painted, he looks really cool.
-
Very nice! I keep buying odds and ends to make up a saga warband as there is so much eyecandy out there!
-
Thank you. I would like to mix them with Crusader miniatures because they were sculpted by the same person. Do you know how they match together?
-
Absolutely lovely work. Look forward to seeing some more. :D
-
Thank you Ray!! IŽm finishing another Viking with a big axe and one Berserker. IŽll post pictures as soon I finish them.
Cheers.
-
Looks a lot like Tom Weiss' figures - and that's a big plus in my book. :o
Like the simple basing as well; please continue soon!
-
They should work fine with Crusader, I don't have any of their Vikings but I do have their Normans and in my eyes they look fine side by side. You could also check out Artizan as they have a number of very nice Vikings in their range.
-
Very nice
-
Thank you, IŽm happy that you like it.
IŽll try some Crusader miniatures soon, thank you for your help.
And... I have painted this berserker.

I don't mean to derail your thread but after looking around your blog, which is so full of eye candy, and I saw these and wondered who is the manufacturer?

Thank you!

They are Gamezone Miniatures from their Not Bretonian range. These were painted some years ago for a DBA army but I donŽt remember the name of the miniatures, sorry about that.
-
Excellent. :D
-
Thank you Ray. I have seen you Warlord and I have to say that he's very well painted and the handpainted shield is fantastic, you are very talented indeed.
Today, another Viking.

The grey tartan cloak is amazing. Incredible.
-
Have to agree with all other posters - that grey plaid/tartan is fantastic. Very nicely done. Nice looking warband so far.
-
I have finished some more vikings for the Warband, I'll post them during the week.
He dyed his beard in red. I though if Ancient Germans dyed their hair he can do it too. Maybe some trader from abroad told him something about that and he liked the idea ;)

Yet more lovely Northern Nutters!
:-*
Between yourself and a couple of others on here, (along with having just finished the latest book in Bernard Cornwell's Warrior series- Great read!), I am getting a yearning to try this SAGA thing out.
The warband size does not look too daunting.
I shall investigate some more methinks...
-
They look fantastic! love you're work on the tartan :-*
-
Most excellent and inspiring vikings! No matter how mainy vikings I paint or see, it's stuff like this that keeps me interested in the period :)
Thanks for posting,
n.

Thanks!! Vikings are always the best option to go to war!!
This is the last Berserker for the Warband and there is a family picture too:

And this is the Sea-King, I have used a mastiff from Vendel miniatures as his loyal friend. I have seen a very nice Saxon Warlord painted by Lt.Hazel too. Big dogs are always welcome on command stands!!

Brilliant stuff, it's been great watching the warband grow. :-* :-*
-
This warband will be the envy of all the other raiding parties with their amazing fabrics and seriously good shield designs.
Nice doggy too.
Amazing work.
Simply stunning!
:-*
-
Great Warband mate! The dog is a must-have in German/Viking armies. May be your chief is a descendant of Haethelmar???
Cheers

Excellent. :D
The sea-king is great, love the dog. :D
-
Thank you!! IŽll try to play with them in two weeks when I have reached the 4 points Warband. IŽll not add any levies at the moment because I donŽt see them in a Pirate Warband. Anyway, I donŽt understand why the Vikings havenŽt got any options for adding warriors armed with bows when there are several important warriors using them in some sagas and several heroes are very good archers and javelin throwers.

Thanks, IŽm working on some fatigue markers and I have been inspired by those that you made for your warband!!

Thanks! I hope they are good in combat and not only fashion victims!! lol lol You should try the game, I havenŽt played but there are several skirmish ruleset and you always can use the miniatures with them too. Thats the good thing about this kind of game and thatŽs because I love Strange Aeons, .45 Adventure, SAGA... you can use the miniatures again and again with different systems!!
May be your chief is a descendant of Haethelmar???
He is always talking about granpa Haethelmar to his men!! lol lol
The sea-king is great, love the dog. :D
Thank you for trading this miniature (and some more) with me. IŽm enjoying a lot painting them!!
And now, another warrior:
