Title: Muskets and Tomahawks question - Melee and LOS
Post by: LaserDreamWorks on June 15, 2012, 04:16:11 PM
Played my first game of M&T last night and came across a rule that did not quite make sense.

The Engage in Melee section says that to engage in melee, the unit must have line of sight to its target to be able to move into base to base contatct.  Unless the unit is within 6" and then we assume the presence of the enemy is clear.

So if I read this correctly, all infantry in the game has a movement of 6 or less - so there is never an instance where an infanry unit would be unable to engage in melee as long as it is within movement range.  Mounted units on the other hand might have an issue if they are more than six inches away?

Regards,
Matt

Infantry in the core rules are ok but who knows what may happen in the future. Cavalry units without Los will not be able to engage if they are outside of 6".

I imagine it's there as a game mechanic so you can move into buildings and engage.
