Title: Point du Hoc [in 28mm] AAR
Post by: 14th brooklyn on June 16, 2012, 01:31:54 PM
Just posted a battle report of the Point du Hoc game we played yesterday on my blog:

http://dhcwargamesblog.wordpress.com/2012/06/16/point-du-hoc-in-28mm-aar/ (http://dhcwargamesblog.wordpress.com/2012/06/16/point-du-hoc-in-28mm-aar/)

And yes... this is in 28mm including the cliffs!  :D

Enjoy,

Burkhard

Wow, that is impressive and amazing!

What bases did you  use for the figures? I like the nice touch of the labels at the bottom to give info about the figure.

Also, how did you get the figures to sit on the lines going up the cliff facing?

"I used .1mm hardned steel pins set into the cliff at regular intervals. You can out the minis on top of those and the are virtually invisible once you are more then 30cm away."

Good idea :D

Thanks guys!

Since Lowtardog already quoted the trick how the minis "climbed" the wall from the blog... The bases are normal slotta bases. The tags are the easiest way to identify the minis. I found giving them "names" (nationality, function, number) is far better then colour coding them. This way one can cater for all kinds of historical TO&As.

Cheers,

Burkhard

This is surely looking like a fun game, I had a good time reading about your adventures. It also seems like you had researched the subject a bit before the game, wich made the whole thing more enjoyable!

Wow - that is just a fantastic piece of scenery, I can't remember the last time (if ever) I've seen something akin to that in 28mm!

The use of pin for climbing figures to rest is inspired while the fortress and figures are great.

Oh, and the AAR was gripping as well!

Thanks for sharing.

Yea, I just purchased some of the Mountain garbed Germans (forgot their actual name) but they was the specialists trained in winter gear, snow skis and mountain climbing. This could be a cool mission to work for Point Blank for a small squad of German Commandos taking on something similar.

You mean Gebirgsjäger. Yes, they would have a good time attacking down the the cliffs!

And THX to Col. Tubby... glad you liked the idea with the pins!
