Title: looking for historical wargamers in the Netherlands
Post by: General Lee on June 30, 2012, 07:02:56 PM
Wasn't sure where to post this but since my main interest is in the horse and msuket era, I posted it here.

So I would like to get a better picture of how many people play, or would like to play historical wargames in the Netherlands. There is a club in 'Hoek van Holland' called Society de la grande armee, of which I will become a member: http://www.lagrandearmee.nl/

are there any more Dutch historical wargamers out here? (obviously, if you're not Dutch but do live in the Netherlands, you're welcome too lol)

My current projects:
- ACW
- F&IW
- Samurai

Interest for the future:
- AWI
- Dark Ages
- Medieval
- Pike and shot
- Napoleonic
- WO2

hope to hear from you!

Collecting is better than nothing!  8)

Okay Noordwijk, that's still in Zuid Holland. that's a plus.

Well to be honost, I don't visit gwhobby anymore. There's very few historical enthusiasts and to be frank, some of those that are, are quite annoying people. Since it's a hobby, I choose not to spend my time there  lol

I'm here. Amsterdam.

Mij collecting of historics is largely theoretical though, because of work and other occupations.

I'm a member of BOD in Utrecht, but I haven't been there for a while as well.

I'm not a member of a historical wargames club or something, because I have no idea if there is a club in my area. I'm in Bilthoven, and I just started collecting Wars of the Roses miniatures. I also like other periods in the English history, like the civil war and the Tudor period, but I haven't started collecting anything from those periods... yet.

Oh, and I also have two Napoleonic French soldiers. :D

Not Dutch, but live currently in Tilburg. Will likely be moving to Rotterdam in Autumn though.

Main interests are:
WW2: German, British and Soviets in 28mm (havnt played enough games to have a favourite ruleset)
Napoleonic: have armies for French, British and Prussian
ECW/TYW
Colonial: British colonials, Zulus and Sudan.

I have no miniatures but am also considering VBCW, WW1 SCW

I am also not a member of a club

I am from Belgium, a long way from the netherlands border.  Regio Kortrijk.  Member of a club in region of Brugge.

You should look for members in Leopoldsburg to connect to.

I paint (and shall play) Napoleonics 28mm.

Also from the Kortrijk region! Currently in active due to the lack of opponents

Have painted or partially painted

- French napoleonics (2 x 24 men battalions so not quite big + another in the making)
- A Darkest Africa collections (around 100 painted figures including natives, British, explorers, porters)
- A lord of the rings skirmish mordor army (around 1000 points but not all painted)
- Preparing a VBCW workers militia
- Preparing a small skaven warband
- Other bits and pieces

I don't have many experience with rulesets except for the BGIME rules but not an expert.

You are always welcome at TSA, Belgium.  From your area this should be about a 1.5 hour's drive.

http://www.tsoa.be/

There are about 120 of us (most times 50-60 show up), meeting every Fridaynight, playing a multitude of games & periods.

@ Belgian : On this moment i only paint 25/28mm napoleonics.  If you have a brigade, you can contact me for a napoleonic battle.  Tell me what you have and what your plans are !

@ Rudi : TSA is too far.  Momentely i am a green knight member in St. Andries, where sometime we play napoleonics.

More players from the region of Kortrijk ?

Absolutely no offence but it might be a good idea to start a thread for Belgian gamers. otherwise we'll have two conversations going in one  8)

Hollander here. Dutch (whatelse) from Almere. Willing to travel (car/motorcycle)

More a skirmisher type gamer

"Historical"
28mm  Russians, germans platoon sized forces with the odd truck and armour in support.  Enough terrain to fill a 4' x 6'  table to Stalingrad rubble level.

15mm WW2  germand and Brits. Enough terrain to fill a 6x 4 table with a proper bocage layout and a small village.

28mm Dark ages, Vikings, Early Franks and merovingian Franks.  building small village to raid/defend.

Future projects
15mm dutch 1940 using rumanians, (company sized)
1988 Dutch cold war based on Gripping beast 28mm Argentinians and assorted others a platoon max.

Fiction
1895 Dutch "KNIL styled"  company to use with "In her majesty's name" steam punk rules. After all, we were a superpower in those days.

Rules: currently playing
I ain't been shot Mum (latest edition)
SAGA, Dux Brit

I Own a huge rules collection dating back 1976 WRG WW2 willing to learn and to some extent invest in new rules.

Other interest Scifi (neo sovjets and "partizans")
Post apocalypse gaming (20mm and 28mm)

I have room and permanent table to game so I can host , armies are in various stages of painting from bare metal to based and flocked so I may need some time to get them to proper wargames standard as I don't like to game with bare metal.

@ Hollander..
perhaps another blatant plug for TSA but it occurs to me that we're playing some of your favourite games regularly.
If the distance is no problem ( about an hours + drive from Rotterdam) you're of course very welcome to join us.
In fact we do have a sizeable number of Dutch members :D

Historical games played regularly

SAGA
Dux Brittaniarum
Canvas Eagles (1/48)
WWII 28mm ( Disposable Heroes)
Colonial ( homebrew)
Napoleonic 28mm
ACW (Johny Reb and Brother against Brother)
General Quarters ( WWi en WWII naval)
and many others

- Hail Ceasar 28mm
- Pike and Shotte 15mm\
- Muskets and Tomahawks: 28 and 20mm

I'm in Leiden. Utrecht sounds doable. I've been wanting to try Muskets and Tomahawks and I wouldn't mind having a go to see if I actually like it as much as I think I will. General, if you could pm me an exact date for BOD I might come have a look.

Thanks,
