Hi all,
Thought I'd post this in the work bench section ( I don't like cross-posting but I thought it fitted better here). It's a really basic tutorial for making Steam-exo armour from a Mage Knight Steam Tinker.
The Basic Model:

First of all I removed the mini from its base and removed the ”Exo” arms. I then cut off the circular saw from the left arm as well as the piston. Next I cut the arms off the pilot keeping only the gloves and removed the foot rests. I then channelled out the lower legs out using a sharp scalpel.
I cut the beard right back, and tidied up the trunk of the pilot’s body.

I added a waste coat and cravat using GS, tidied up his beard and added some GS kneepad. I used some plastic sprue to make new armatures to fit the exo-arms to. I added a top-hat and infilled any gaps.

I used some upper arms from a 1:48 Tamiya mini to which I attached the pilot’s gloves. Once I attached the arms I made some new “control rods” on the back of the arms using plastic rod.

I used GS to infill the lower legs and carved retaining straps and new feet. I added shoulder straps using GS as well. I re-attached the Exo-arms and used plastic rod to make pistons. I also attached the gatling ( from a GW empire mini) to the left arm and an ammo belt from a GW Chaos marine bolter.
The base is plasti-card (“Wilkes” HO scale granite sets).

Finally I base coated the mini.

My GS skills aren’t particularly good but as this is a conversion rather than a complete sculpt they weren’t tested too much.
My original post can be found here for a painted model:

So there you have it. Hope it was useful.

Thanks Pappa midnight. :D
I knew that bugger was a lot of work to convert when I first saw him.
After seeing this, I appreciate the work you did on him even more!
