I don't think there's a thread for this CMON effort here yet ???
Odd, that... Anyway, what better way than to start with this choice morsel spotted at BoW:
http://www.beastsofwar.com/fantasy-wargaming/wrath-kings-blooming-preview/
Looks like a display piece more than a gaming piece tho, but be that as it may I found Brennon's (the news bit's writer) comment "that’s certainly a very stylishly posed miniature" refreshingly ironic, given what the actual photos of the model look like :P
-
Yes, I don't think "Stylish" is quite the correct word to apply there. lol
-
Oh.
:?
Yes... stylish not the right word...
Gracias,
Glenn

cheeky...perhaps?

cheeky...perhaps?
That, sir, is definitely the word!

A gaming buddy reminded me that the pose is actually realistic: how else is one supposed to stay on top of a whirling energy vortex?
One supposes he might have a point there, after all he's watched at least nearly as many wuxia documentaries from Hong Kong as anybody... o_o

It stands to reason that since earlier this week the game got a cheeky girl, it now gets a horny boy:

-
And now it's time for some busty stuff, in limited editions seems like:

Does this game even have any regular edition minis yet? :?

That vampiress annoys me. Another member of the "Let's see how ludicrously large we can make these swords!" bunch. She'd be pretty decent otherwise.
-
They aren't really hiding the Rackham influence otherwise either 8)

No, I think slightly pornographic is the right word.

I take this as a very positive comment :D
Is the new Gortisi covered enough for your taste?
With a feathered tricorne from the WF 'Generic WSS cavalry' plastic set she would make a great Lacepunk / Lacepulp female hero. Though the blades are ludicrously oversized (part of the GW syndrome, but at least she's spared the oversized hands and feet).

Cartoony rubbish, a worrying trend in a lot of these self contained skirmish games these days.
-
That's the figure I was complaining about.
There are some aspects to the Wrath of Kings line that I really enjoy. And others that just ruin it completely for me.

Hm, that's actually what came to my mind. You got it right there. Then again, maybe I'm just an old fart who doesn't get it anymore. lol

"Cartoony rubbish" on KS 8)
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/coolminiornot/wrath-of-kings
WoK is still looking like it should be marketed as "the Previously Unreleased Rackham Miniatures Collection", but some of the figs look nice enough all the same. I'm ever so slightly partial to the steam-powered not-Wolfen/Devourer for example -- pending the actual miniature obviously.
-
This KS will no doubt fly but I agree to finding the sculpts not quite to my taste (horned demon is a cool figure tbh).
Was hoping to get in on a lower level than $50 to maybe get any extra add-on figures. Looks like I will pass on this one.
-
There are some really nice miniatures in there, unfortunately, as I don't like to buy scantily clad sculpts, young family, I won't be getting any of the starter sets as they all either have these or just don't interest me. The wraths look great as does that "horny" guy.
-
There are some very nice figures here but I'm not ready to jump into another KS just yet.

Yep, even I might've gone one or two "singles" but see no reason at all to go for a full starter of any faction as I've no interest in fantasy gaming (and thus little to no need for fantasy miniatures). A lot of KS projects seem be going for high entry level tho; presumably there is some sort of cost and/or logistic issue involved.
-
They look like typical Rackham to me, which is...an army from Cirque du Soleil. While I have no use for them, the sculpts are well done (even if some people don't agree with the subject matter, lol).
-
I really like the oriental dragon from the Shael Han faction, you can see it in the intro video. No word of it being available as part of the KS, however?
-
There are some individually interesting figures in there, but none of them really fit with any of my existing projects.
Still, I don't mind seeing someone try something a little different. Rather looks like Rackham mashed up with Dark Age.
-
Sigh...
I love to see more women included, however not in a lame sexually exploitative way. Doesn't surprise me coming from the CMON crowd though.
I won't buy in on this one.

-
No doubting the sculpt quality, but this range is a mix of 'dear lord no', 'meh', and one or two 'must have' figures.
-
Looks like one to pick and choose from later...it's just too uneven and no real strong direction on the factions or figures. The only unifying element in all of it so far feels like the painters.
-
Pass.

Threads like this are why I feel so at home here. I do not understand the appeal of this thing. ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? o_o

There's a $1 pledge level you can buy add-ons with.
I'm under the impression the line is entirely concepted from Edouard Guiton artwork, comedy oversized weapons and all. Whether you like the minis or not will likely depend on whether you like his art.
-
I like the dude riding the giant octopus thing :), I liked the concept art for underwater types monster thing but the actual miniature looks rubbish IMO :(.
I know someone who's getting 2 starters so I might get the octo-rider, but I wont be playing the game.

I think that's right, on the whole I'm not sure I like it but a lot of people really do if Kickstarter is anything to go by.

I like most of the models in two of the factions, the underwater guys and the shael-han oriental types. The others, well, just don't suit me. A friend of mine is going in, and wants me to join in with him. At worst, I would get the shael han dragon and the hadross octo-rider.

-thread resurection & derail-
Um... a bit of a cheeky request, but if anyone is backing WoK and wouldn't mind adding the WoK kickstarter exclusive zombicide cos-players to their pledge for me (happy to pay in advance of the pledge being added; as well as for what ever shipping is required to get the figures from the pledger to me) I'd be very grateful!

All sorted :)

Ähm, now, as v_lazy_dragon started it allready, is there anybody pledging for House Nasier who could part from 3 different Ashmen and 1 Ashmen Hakar?
Would be greatful too :)
