Title: Copplestone 15mm Barbarica gallery
Post by: Dr Mathias on July 21, 2012, 04:11:56 PM
Apologies if this has been posted, but I received an email from Copplestone Castings about some new 15mm Dwarves, and a link to a gallery of the 15mm figure range painted by Dallimore. They're absolutely stunning.

Yep. Stupendous work by the A-team. Copplestone and Dallimore. Wargames figure nirvana. I keep resisting these figures, having way too much else in the queue, but I know I am going to succumb eventually...  ::)

Come on chaps, that's at least three orders Mr. Copplestone deserves! Get to it!  ;)

I'm waiting for the 'definitely not Romans' before giving in. These pictures make it harder to resist.  ;)

Rules wise with basing like this I would think you could use warmaster, impetus, Hott etc.

Hmmm. You know I'm not sure they are going to happen after all... There was a line in the newsletter about Dallimore's paint job on the barbarians as the survivors of earlier imperial invaders, in red, with black hair - the lost legion perhaps?
Looks like messrs Copplestone and Dallimore are reinventing the mythos as they go along...  ;)

I just finished a load of Barbarians, they are absolutely brilliant.

I've never seen anything close in 15mm, get some, you'll all be blown away  :-*

Those Kevin Dallimore 15s are outrageously painted. Sublime. Deeply tempting to try a nibble of my own.

That sort of thing doesn't help my resolve to not start a 15mm fantasy project a bit.  Please refrain from starting such threads in future.

And the release plan, from last newsletter

"On my workbench at the moment: Barbarian Cavalry, Snow Troll Champions and a Mammoth."

Cracking stuff all the same, shame they are dwarfs, not my thing I'm afraid.

Come payday I'm gonna partake. I've been hankering to do a project in 15mm, I was gonna do Greek mythology so the beasties looked massive if I bought 28mm scale monsters, but that'll work just as well for the wonderful barbarica stuff. Ice Giants and trolls and such at suitably massive sizes! :D

They are great minis. I've been steadily working my way through painting them, and they are a real treat. Don't know if I'll be getting the dwarves, but the Mammoth!?  :o :-* Can't wait to see it!

Not in a released set yet, perhaps if there is a barbarian character pack she will appear there.

That's probably 'Shortism' you know! They'll be after your knees if you're not careful...

They better.   ;) In some strange way I've been looking forward to the 'not Romans'. Something a bit like Morgans army in Excalibur would be nice, all sort of dark with rusty armour. Or maybe like the 9th legion veterans from the Eagle.  :D

Edit: Have just read the newsletter. Mr.C describes the barbarians as the descendants of a once 'great' civilisation. And also says that the dwarves are usually allied with the Northlanders in their battles with the Romans.

So there's hope yet!!  :D

Beautiful painting on great figures.  I really want to see those Romans come out.  Now to decide on some rules for this.....hmmmmmmm.....
