I need some in 28mm
I was thinking of trying to convert Mongrel Congo Mercs into Brits, they both have the FN. Gripping Beast has British heads, Tams, what helmet was used?
I also thought about picking up some of Mongrels BOAR figures for the sterling, or should I start with the BOAR and convert from there?

Commando miniatures do 1960's Brits

British troops used the Mk.V helmet (almost identical to the Mk.III 'Turtle') up to the 1980s. Outside of BAOR exercises, or riots (Aden, N.I. etc) it was rarely worn though. Berets, jungle hats, jungle caps and even the odd knotted hankie, were the preferred head wear of choice, even in combat, as helmets weren't commonly carried on patrol.

I've painted up some Mongrel mercs as Royal Marines for the period. There's no Bren, no FN and no SMG but none are beyond conversion and they look the business. The mercs with Uzi are probably a better start point for conversions to Sterlings. These will do until I can get some sculpted.
Do be aware that about a third of each pack have berets worn on the wrong side for Brits but MoFo can supply all the beret heads you will need.

Just a note that The Assault Group sells packs of FN SLRs and Sterlings (made for their Australians in Vietnam).

Oh, I meant the whole article, as in British troops for the period, not just the gun.

So do you have mercantile plans for these sculpts, Carlos?
-
Sculptor agrees to do them, then yes.

I though about useing TAG but wanted them to have the Tam, from Gripping Beast, and the TAG figures I have are to bulky for it to look right.
