I'm planning to inflict some UNIT games on people soon, so I thought I'd share a few characters I've painted up so far.
UNIT Heroes:

The Space Robots:

The idea is that the Space Robots are going to be a 'warm up' game before the UNIT vs The Daleks main event.
-
Nicely done. I love those robots.
-
What make are the UNIT figures?
-
Awesome! Which ruleset are you planning on using?
-
Good stuff. :)
-
I can't get used to UNIT in red hats. That's one Russell T Davies 're-imagine' I do not approve of. I'm fine with almost everything else he's done, but I have a particular fondness for the old beige hats.
Back in the days when belligerent aliens attacked South East England almost every week, those beige berets (and a Belgian rifle with a bayonet, and some guts behind it) are what kept us free! Bring back the beige! :)

They are Mo-Fo Falklands War characters from Gripping Beast.

The current plan is to try this with 5150, from Two Hour Wargames. But we'll give it a go with Legends of the Old West from Warhammer Historical too.
If they OGL it as they are talking about, Battlefield Evolution with the modern and Starship Troopers add-ons from Mongoose.
For more adventure-y less battle-y games, it's going to be .45 Adventure.

I think he made the change as a personal favour to me, so I could borrow support weapons and crew from my WWII British Paratroopers and the hats would match.
Russell T Davies does score 1,500 bonus points for making Dr Martha Jones a member of UNIT. Hopefully this means some monsters invading the coast of South Wales in the new series coming this April.
I'd love to find some minis of women in British Army uniforms for UNIT, but there don't seem to be any out there.

Nice, although still stubornly painting my UNIT figs in the old style.

The Daleks are just about finished now. Just Davros to go.

Excellent Daleks :)
-
Darn swell, those Daleks! Now, I know nothing about the Dr. Who fluff apart from being able to tell Daleks from Cybermen and who Davros and what TARDIS is (I think I saw it last Sunday parked on a drivers training course between Golders Green and Brent Cross tube stations ), but Iīd assume gold Daleks would be "bosses", not "īleks of the line"? :?:
Looks lovely, nonetheless, and being an avid brasstek fan, wonīt complain! :)
-
Gold looking ones are the Renegade/Cult of Skaro Daleks. A Common Dalek.
Black for the Dalek Supreme/Supreme Dalek or Dalek Sek. A Boss Dalek.
Daleks are from the planet Skaro, they are mutant meat lumps in an armoured case. Cyborgs from space.
The Cult of Skaro are a group of Dalek scientists working to preserve and restore the Dalek Empire, after they were almost wiped out in the Time War.
The Time War was between the Daleks and the Time Lords where they used time travel to try and wipe the others out before they existed. It didn't go well for either side.
You are now a Dalek expert. :)

Ahhh... yes. Daleks mi doch am Popocatepetl! (pun for the German-speakers only, sorry)
Thanks a bunch... I had somewhere read about that "shrivelled aliens" thing, but all the finer details are completely alien to me, and Iīm afraid Iīm too old for diving into yet another SciFi universe... not that it would stop me.
But that doesnīt detract from the nice, oldskool SciFi designs. And who else but the BBC would come up with a time-traveling telephone booth?
By the way, a recent Dr. Who serial is currently being shown on German TV - recently watched an episode featuring ethereal spirits and Charles Dickens, and while rather fun, didnīt watch more due to absence and time constraints. Is it good as a "Who primer" or should I rather pick another series?

Speaking as one who's seen very, very little of the old Doctor Who (and that was ages ago), I still LOVE the new series. Never mind learning the background, just start watching it and enjoy. That's what I did. From what I can tell, it doesn't rely hugely on the old Doctor Who anyway. It breaks away from it, to some extent.

That's the best place to start and quite near the beginning of the 'New Who'.
The new series, which started over here in, I think 2005, was written in a way that you didn't have to know the whole 45 years of back story.

You are probably familiar with these rules, but I thought I'd drop the link anyway. I think .45 Adventure would work great as well, particularly as you say for more Adventure y scenarios.

Jolly spiffing of the lads, isnīt it!
I recall German TV (Rupert Murdochīs VOX station, to be precise) showed some classic episodes back in the 90s, on weekday morning slots, wham-bam during school hours when one couldnīt watch it! Dang!

I have the old Harlequin/Black Tree rulebook. Is the this an updated version of that, or a totally new game?

Generally good sorts the BBC. BBC Wales has done a great job with the new Series. Well worth a watch.
It's not heavy, it's just fun adventure stuff.
-
Yes, BBC WALES! Sorry, couldn't let that slip, being both Welsh and a HUGE Dr Who fan.

I played my first game of this last Sunday. I was the Master, accompanied by Sea Devils.
I was narrowly beaten by the Dr and UNIT after the Master headed out to sea in a hovercraft, exactly as he did in the episode!
I had never even seen the rules before I started playing, but very easy to pick up.
A hugely entertaining game, the highpoint of which was 5 Unit troopers in a firing line failing to get a single hit on a lone Sea Devil.
(I think he was wearing a rubber/kevlar composite suit  )

The Welsh don't get credit for much, but Russell T Davies (a Welshman) and BBC Wales (a whole load of Welshfolk) gave me back my Doctor Who. So "Cymru am byth". :)
I was really worried at one time that the dire American version was going to be the return of Doctor Who. Sylvester looked great as the Doctor at the start of that one, then it all went downhill.

And three lions. Don't forget the lions. While they're not doing so well at the minute, they have seen off the Eagle a couple of times, and in another sport the Kangaroo and Emu (though very infrequently).

That's Coeur de Lion's arms that is. So kind of French, too, when you think about it.

UNIT Soldiers now.
After careful consideration I've decided to stick with the Red hats.

Good call. Red hats are so much better.
And on the flag issue, we got:

This is a totally new game. It has high production value, covers both the classic and new series and is a free download with a bunch of scenarios and more on the way. I've played it as both a generic Sci-fi game and for Doctor Who games and it works very well. Check them out and see what you think.

I recently played a Unit vs Sea Devils scenario and got my rear end handed to me by the Master and the Sea Devils. I did have Sgt. Benton take out a Sea Devil in hand to hand before he went down though, that was fun.

Cool, I'll have a proper look at them then. Cheers for the info.
The final addition to the Dalek forces, Davros, creator the Daleks!

UNIT gets some heavier firepower, the LAW 80 Anti-Dalek weapon and the FN Minimi light machine gun.

nice collection you are quietly building there Rev. :)
-
Cheers, they're getting there.
The plan is to build up the UNIT with modern kit guys to a platoon sized force.
They are also explorers though the Stargate and if we can get people motivated here, they will be NATO/UN troops stopping a civil war in a fictional Eastern European country.

UNIT's modern troops complete, now with plenty of firepower to take on all those Daleks. :)
Sorry about the blurry photo, it's the best I could manage. I gave up trying to get a perfectly clear one after a dozen or so attempts.

I'm very tempted to add a 7th Doctor and Ace too.
-
I like Tom Bakers scarf . The K9 model is a nice casting too. Can't comment on the other one though lol
-
I painted Tom a long, long time ago, but rebased him recently to match the other figures.
K9 is the Doctor Who micro universe mini, with the old tail replaced by a pin.
As to the 10th Doctor, it's a Lead Adventure limited edition you know. lol
