Here's the first look at some 28mm Kappa figures I'll be releasing in a few weeks. Based on the Kappa of japanese legend I've made these to be a kind of river goblin as much of anything else. I'm working toward releasing more figures so that a decent skirmish force could be put together. There'll be weapon variants, character figs inc shamen types, some models with scavenged samurai armour. For ranged weapons I thinking of going for blowpipes rather than bows.
The first one painted by Einar Olafson! These pics were sent over today and I'm very happy with the pj!

The greens of the first 3 figures. Figs are about 24mm to the top of the head.

These are lovely. I like them on so many different levels it is hard to decide where to begin. River goblins indeed. :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*
-
Very tasty. Great sculpting.
-
Pretty neat.
-
:-* :-* :-*
I have been wanting Japanese mythological miniatures for years, and these are fantastic!
As soon as I can place an order I will be doing so :D
Thank you very much for releasing these minis.
-
Oh, pretty! :-*

I am with Svennn on these- So many levels indeed.
Now I am trying to find a way to slip/cajole/crowbar them into British folklore for my Strange Aeons project.
;D

Hmm interesting! Maybe a kind of lesser fishman/deepone :)
Here are some new pics of another of the figures painted by Andres.

Its always good to see a new fantasy subject rather than the same old same old, especially when as well executed as this.
-
Superb sculpts and an absolutely stonking paintjob! :-*
Love 'em!!
I love your zombies too. Any chance we might see some zombie samurai or other oriental undead?
-
Gorgeous!
-
WOW! What an awesome set of truly original figures :o Straight to the top of the "simply must have" list.
Please don't release these too quickly though. I need time to come up with some way to pacify the wife first. Some women just don't seem to understand a man's real needs :D

Yes almost certainly. Somebody on frothers suggested zombie peasants which I think is a cracking idea!
Now that Einar Olafson has finished the third figure I can post a group shot of all three! Thanks Andres

and here is a scale pic of some of the figure variants along side some samurai types

I second this! We need a Tengu figure! More Japanese mythological beings! :D
-
Yeah sculpting a Tengu is definately on the list!
Which manufacturers are the Samurai in the size comparison photo?
Left to Right.. vintage citadel/foundry, perry, black hat, and reaper classics!
cheers

Kappa are so easy to beat. Just bow to them.
These are brilliant. I hope you continue with this theme.

Can't wait for these to come out! Ordered a Giant Toad today, figured that in mystical colours it may suit an Oriental mythology setting :)

Cheers Gibby!

These were going to be released when I'd done a re-design on website but that's been put back a little bit so I've added a limited number of packs to the online shop over at Tengu Models priced at £7.50.
Gibby sent you a PM about postage!
cheers
Iain

Received my Kappa and toad today! Truly lovely figures! So cleanly cast as well. Beautiful! I'll be getting the whole range!
-
got mine yesterday, superb castings, next to nothing in the way of cleaning up to do, cant wait for more!
-
Thanks for that! Here's a pic of a couple of character figures with a bit more work done on them.

i cant believe you've actually painted something! they must be good! ;)
-
I know! Not only that, but as soon as I received them!
-
Really cool.
Thanks to the LPL I have a little fantasy samurai thing going and, miraculously, I have some painted figures that could take these on :)
-
I've been looking for antagonists for my girlfriend's Eureka Samurai Rabbits, these look perfect.
-
Got mine painted up, just deciding whether to paint their little water-dents blue or trying to be clever and using some kind of real water effect stuff. Probably the former because clever is not my strongpoint...
Sadly I'm a novice painter so I've achieved what most would describe as "gaming standard" and thus they do not photograph well lol
-
Does anyone know who produces these now?
-
I wish I knew. I would like some of the armored ones.
-
I read that Khurasan had them but can't find them on their website.
-
Khurasan had them Yes!! I was talking with the owner some weeks ago.... and he told me because don't have the miniatures painted to show in his web...can't sale >:(
...I'm interested also to buy one buntai of this creatures ;D...
-
I've been waiting for Khurasan to put these on sale since 2014, does it really take that long to get a few minis painted? lol
-
I got so bored of waiting for these so I started making my own. I'd still buy some though if they ever got rereleased ;)

Can we see yours?
-
Here you go Twrchtrwych, a bit more feral and vicious than the Tengu ones, but simple conversions based on the plastic Games Workshop Hobbit goblins.

Saw on Tabletop fix that Khurasan had posted these on facebook, dare I dream that that means this range will finally be available again soon, with some reinforcements?
-
Fingers crossed! Glad it appears he got a painter, as IIRC that was the holdup. They look good.
Back in September Khurasan also showed a Kappa commander, armored and wielding a katana. I can't figure out how to share an image using my phone, but it's easy enough to find on the facebook page, and maybe someone else who's more tech savvy can post the picture.
-
Ooooooh! This is great! Regret getting rid of mine
-
:o :o :o Can't wait to put my hands on these minis....long time waiting!!!!...they are the perfect match to fight my samurais!!!! Aregatooooo o_o
-
Here's the painted kappa commander in question, same WIP sculpt that was shown earlier in this thread.
