I am back from summer-holidays and managed to finish 2 SAGA Battleboards and some new miniatures form my Lannister Battlegroup. The next unit will be some war-dogs and men-at-arms for the house of Stark. Hope you like it…

I had the same idea actually, (and I think a couple of thousand more people have thought about it lol).
Your stuff is top notch as ever, Frank :-*
-
Those figures positively glow with warmth.
-
:o They look magnificent! I love the smooth and realistic paint job. The terrain looks fabulous as well!
-
:o Excellent as ever Frank. Once again you make me consider throwing away my brushes and paints, your painting makes mine look like the daublings of a deluded child.... :'(
-
Wow great idea and lovely painting!!!
-
wow Frank, those are cool 8)
what figures are you using?
Looks like some perry's war of the roses plus some hundred years war? Is that right.
Well done though

-
:-*
Love'em!
Great color schemes, super flags, pennants and shields, and a nice gritty... "this is war" feel.
Looking forward to further progress.
-
Absolutely stunning. :o
-
No idea what this is, but WHIOROAIRJHOZIHRAPOIHRO!!!!!! :-* :-* :-*
-
I actually like your stuff better than the show. Much more variety, where the HBO series has the Lannister's all matchy-matchy.
-
Simply sublime brushwork. The painting is so good, it almost makes one forget that the Westeros SAGA battleboards are very well done too.
-
Breathtaking camera work as usual :-* Frank you're a genius, let's have some more 8)
-
I have had your site bookmarked for some time now for inspiration. I'm sporadically working on asoiaf project myself. Nowhere near as nice as yours though. Looks awesome!
-
Lovely :)
Might be a nice online project, everyone pick a House and paint a warband?
-
Wonderful :-* One question - did you use Wargames Factory or Gripping Beast Viking parts on your Stark troops?
Thanks,
Jim
-
fantastic painting. Not my favorite house (go Stark!).
-
A Lannister always paints his vets!
-
Ah,what can I say? Well,just perfect!!!
-
Thank you very much for your comments!
@Hupp n at em: I used the Gripping Beast Vikings. Some heads are a little bit too big and you need a small piece of plastic to form a neck. The box has also a really nice variety of separate weapons and shields.
-
Superb. Stunning stuff.
-
Fantastic stuff Frank. :-*
.... and thanks for sharing the Battleboards.
-
A Lannister always paints his vets!
Good one lol
-
This was a fantastic idea! And superb execution!! :-* :-*
-
An army and paint job to be proud of. And yes Lannister's "Hear Me Roar!"
I love those guys.
-
:o :o Looking great! I especially like the action shot! :-* :-*
-
Very nice and inspiring! Thanks for taking the time to the the scenic images as well... cool indeed!

Wonderful Frank. :)
One day, i will do some of these myself!
-
Magnificent work as ever, Frank.
:-* :o :-*

I was able to finish my next two units, the Lannister warrior with crossbow and a unit of Stark warriors with their wardogs. The dogs are miniatures made by Warlord.

Wonderful! :D
-
Fantastic!
-
Great work on the figures... especially fine job on the crossbow equipment.
Question: Who makes those trees you have in the background? Are those a homebrew job?
-
Just beautiful. I really wish I knew someone who'd like to do a project like this, westeros would make for awesome battles.
-
:-* :-* :-*
Stunning!
-
:-*
Some really great minis!
The war dogs are very cool but I think what really attracts me to your project is all the splendid banners.
Marvelous work.
-
:o
Utterly gorgeous! Love the banners in particular, but great work throughout, and brilliantly staged and photographed.
A Lannister always paints his vets!
Worst. Pun. Ever.
lol

Thank you boys! :-)
The trees are from Games Workshop, but with some more realistic leafs, made by MiniNatur.
-
Awesome painting ! :o :o :-* :-*
-
:-* :-* This is one of the best projects I've seen in a long time!
-
Love it!! Very nice painting job and conversions!!
-
Beautiful work Frank! I'd like to see a scene with the warriors all mixed up fighting it out.
And those banners! :-*
-
:-* Excellent Frank 8)
-
Nice variety of colours.
Where's a certain Lannister Dwarf? :D
-
Absolutely fantastic.
-
Wow. I missed this thread earlier. Phenomenal work Frank - painting, lighting and staging are fantastic.
-
Flawless execution man!!! I'm highly inspired by this!
:-* :-* :-*
-
I missed it as well but I'm glad I've caught it now :-* :-*
cheers
James
-
Absolutely stunning! :-*
-
Amazing!!!
-
Absolutely stunning! Saw the miniatures at the Tactica this year and absolutely loved them. Is there a chance to get battle boards for the other great houses as well?
Baratheon comes to mind, an ability called "Ours is the fury!" would sound quite amazing for a start, don't you think? :)
-
Wow! That's some great painting, as well as fantastic photography! :-*
-
did you ever finish this project up?
-
Enquiring minds want to know.
Need more stunning pics for more motivation. Loading up on plastics to attempt something that I hope turns out half as well.
-
Very very excellent!
-
I have had your site bookmarked for some time now for inspiration.
I hope this isn't a silly question, but may I have the link to the site? Excellent stuff.
-
Frank's blog (the A Game of Thrones pages) are at https://tabletopdeutschland.wordpress.com/category/fantasy/game-of-thrones/
-
Once again, i apologize for the threadomancy, but i really wanted to endorse this project, and wondered if there have been any update? The two armylists are great, but it would be awesome to see some new lists. The Black Watch and the Wildlings would be awesome!!!
If not, what kind of troops do you suggest to use instead? :)
Cheers
Jack

He hasn't put anything new on his blog since 2013 mate.

He hasn't put anything new on his blog since 2013 mate.
Hence my question, since the blog is down but Frank is not (i just read about him a few days ago) i wondered if he simply moved his endeavours to some quieter place. :)

I am back in Westeros! For the next HAMBURG TACTICA I will give Elladan a helping hand with his Westeros - SAGA game. There will be some new SAGA battleboards and of course some new painted miniatures. Here are some first sample miniatures of the Free Folk or Wildlings of the north.

-
Shiiiiiny! Welcome back Frank! Been willing to ask you about your battleboards since a while!
-
Well, we were waiting for you mate! Great job and I would love to see them in a clash with your Starks. :D
-
Great minis and picture, CONGRATULATIONS! ;)
-
Excellent Frank.
The Lucid Eye figures work very well as Wildlings.
-
Cool news and lovely paint jobs. Been eyeing those for Wildlings since I saw them the first time.
-
Thank you for comments. :D
I also work on a few opponents. This miniature is sculpted by Elladan...

These three boys are the first batch of my men of the Night's Watch. They are actually from the 100YW miniatures range of the Perrys. I just added a few capes with fur trim.

-
They look great.
-
Perfect Frank. The Perry HYW figures are just right for Game of Thrones 8)
Just waiting for the HYW mounted knights set to appear... :)
-
Some more Wildlings...this time made of the new Frostgrave barbarians.
-
Beautiful :-*
I need to get to grips with my Frostgrave Barbarian box, and make a few more fur-clad wild cousins of the Starks and Boltons...
-
Great paintjobs! Been re-reading the books and now I feel the need to make some Wulls and Liddles.
-
Whoa! Some splendid updates there :-* :-* :-*
I think the Nights Watch are my favourite though 8)
cheers
James

Great stuff indeed; full of character.
