Just started on a new walker ( not Russian for a change).
This time it's going to be a medium sized German Walker based on a 250/1.
The main body is Tamiya and the legs are converted from a "Robogear" model.
It will have weapons mounted using rare earth magnets so it can have different load-outs.
I'll post more pictures as I go.
Here's a mock up to give you an idea of scale etc.

Looks cool. Is the 250/1 1/72 scale? 8)

Sorry, I should have said. The 250/1 is 1:48 scale.
The mini standind on the base is 28mm to give you an idea of the size!

Tamyia?

You can tell I haven't posted for a while............ I keep forgetting stuff like " What am I posting a picture of?"...... :freak:
Sorry my brains not working too well ( too much work not enough play).
Anyhow, yes it's a Tamiya 1:48 kit. I picked it up a while ago with the full intention of using it "as is" because it's such a nice looking kit.
I found an old Robogear kit lurking in my bits box and thought how nice a new walker would look!

Your legs are much better then mine (The Walkers!!)

(no, still not done and sitting in the WIP pile...bugger, just noticed that pic is from about a year ago  )
Give it one of your spiffy paintjobs, I'm looking forward to seeing yours completed.

Wow,
that's looking really good!
I assume that's a 1:72 body on GW sentinel legs. I actually prefer the legs on yours! I couldn't get away with the sentinel legs on my new one as the body is 1:48 and would make them look too small!
I 've already done a similar one using 1:72 which you've probably already seen:

I've just completed the weapon mounts on the new one, I'll post some pics when I get home tonight.

I've just completed the side weapon mounts and nose mounted machine guns. I've also textured the base.
Now I've just got to add some stowage, hull mounted MG42, finish the interior and assemble the pilot and it's ready to undercoat.
Here's a mock up of it so far ( most parts aren't glued for ease of painting)

If you ask me: Too much Guns, maybe a search light instead of the front mount?
-
Whaaaaaa! :o
Frickinī awesome, but I agree that the chin MGs are way too chunky. Iīd prefer a smaller "combination" turret, with, say, an MG42 and a night vision apparatus.
And donīt tell me you slaughtered a Robotech toy for those gun arms! :o
-
Thanks for the feedback!
Good point about the chin mounted guns, but they are mounted using magnets so it isn't a problem having a spotlight or an Mg42/nightsight combo aswell!
Both excellent ideas........ he says looking through his "bits" box!
Ref:The guns.... yeh Mr Robotech has jointed my bits box minus his arms!
Just for interest I'm doing some rocket pods and an "88" as alternative weapon load-outs.

Wow! Impressive machine you built there!
Typical how the Axis machines seem to be more popular than the Allied stuff...

(Yeah, I built one too... Couple of years old, the paint job isn't of a standard I'd be satisfied with these days.)
Bye, Modhail.
-
Thanks Modhail!
Love your walker. I especially like the "alternative" drive system for road use, that's been really well thought out. Excellent work.
Yeh, funny about the axis stuff, although I have got a lot of Soviet kit aswell.

Just a quick pic of the Walker base coated ( minus detailing) and with a new spotlight attachment.

:o
Dang, that is really looking sweet!
-
Thank you Pappa Midnight!
All I really did was shorten the tracks and make a bracket for the wheels that were left after building this, and tack them onto the legs....
Now that everything is one colour, the shapes on your walker are a bit easier to judge. And they're quite impressive!
Bye, Modhail

Thats better, nice 1

Searchlight is a huge improvement. 8)

Thanks for the comments!
I always take on board what people think, and in the case of the spotlight I think it looks better aswell! The original chin mounted guns were attached with magnets so I can have different load-outs to suit different missions.
Thanks for the feedback

I'm taking pics as I go as it makes it easier for reference when I build another one. My models aren't "planned" as such, so I tend to add bits as I go ( which can be difficult to repeat sometimes!)
Here's a pic with a base coat and some inking. I will build up layers on top working up to German dark yellow.

Just finished painting the Walker "cleanly".
All I have to do now is weather it and add details.

Looks great Pappa! Thumbs up!!
-
Lovely! And, again, good choice of going for simple sandgrey camouflage. :)
The frame antenna is a particularly nice touch.
-
Wow! That's just lovely.
Be sure to post pictures from various angles when it's finished!
(mental note: empty out droolbucket next to PC for when Pappa Midnight finished this beast....)
Bye, Modhail

Just a quick pic of the "Finished Walker".

I will take some different angles and post them shortly.
I am currently putting together some alternative weapon load-outs ( rocket pods).
When they're done........ Next up a Russian SUPER TANK!!!!!!

Love your work Mr Midnight. How big is the german walker force now?Really like the weathering effect you get on your models. Also the bases are very well done too.Well played Sir.
-
Stunning!
I just cannot comprehend your productivity!
I'm lucky to get a mini painted a month! (not for lack of downtime, but for lack of 'get-er-done-i-tude')
I'm part jealous, part amazed, and mostly blown away.
-
Very, very, impressive.
-
Thank You all for the kind comments!
I'm really pleased you like my walker. :)
Here's a pic of my Battle Group so far ( not including Zombies and "Normal" Vehicles).

It seems that Weird War stuff has really got me motivated to build and model. If it doesn't wear off soon I'm going to need a bigger house!!!
