Title: Your suggestions gentlemen and ladies
Post by: Bezzo on August 26, 2012, 12:21:59 PM
A year or so back I bougt a toy plane, a Barbie style thing. I cut the fuselage in 2 and used the bottom as a ship. The engines went on to my Aeronef project (see LAF thread). I have not decided how to use the hull I have created. Intitially I was thinking VSF - maybe a carrier? The figure is 20mm so you can see it is a chunky thing. Flipped over it looks like it could be submarine-y.

What do you think I should do with it?

If it's intended to be a ship, I'd slice it so it "sits lower iin the water". Right now that's quite a bit high up, almost bobbing on the surface, as it were.

There's a page full of the blue prints for other designs. I always wanted to build one but could never work out how to make the ackward shape of the hull!

I think the company the makes the game got a big scale version of their ships made. Go on you know you want to!!! ;)

How about cutting it in half again and building both a carrier AND a sub?  It's plenty tall enough to do both.  If not a carrier, a barge of some type for some modern/post-modern fighting maybe?  The sub is just too obvious

Or something off the wall, like a Weird Inter War tank?

When I saw the shape, it instantly reminded me of an elongated version of this tank, which is apparently based on a real world prototype:

Fond childhood memories of these adventures... :)

Would make a nice freighter, or tanker hull, as is, for 15mm, or 20mm modern pirate games on the high seas.

Lots of action about that in the news lately.

If you painted it dark gray, or black, and added some minimagnets at the rear, to attach a superstructure to, you could remove it when not needed, so you could still have your submarine.

Do the same on the bottom of the ship/top of the sub, for the conning tower.

Like the two into one idea, rare earth magnets would be your friend in this respect. Idea, no additional cutting required.
