Title: Mr. Priestley forgot the japanese list in bolt Action - an emergency call
Post by: NurgleHH on September 09, 2012, 08:36:49 PM
I started this a week ago:
Dear Mr. Priestley,
I received my copy of Bolt Action and read most of it. I searched the Table of Content. And I found nothing. I mean really nothing. Now you wonder, what is missing. It is the basic list for japan. The missing italians and romanians are not so terrible. But Japan. It is like STar Wars without Jabba the hood or Dungeon and Dragons without pigfaced Orcs. No, this is really a shame. I think, you should make a fast correcting of this and bring a basiclist as PDF in the next week.

Greetings Dirk

Now a second try:

Dear Mr. Priestley,
i'm sorry, but I have to write again. Friday passed and your working stuff at warlord games has forgotten to put the basic list for the japans on the side. I think you have to find some derious word to these guys. I'm not upset, but I'm very sad about this fact. Please, find the right words to point the serious situation for the pacific gamers. We are sitting in front of prepared tables and cannot start. Last weekend was horrible for us. Eight hours sitting in fromt of the gaming table without action. Now I can understand the soldiers ant the atlantic wall the time before D-Day. Please, Sir Rick, help us!!! The situation is serious, it is a true wargaming emergency.

Dear Dirk

It is a real wish, even if it is/was not christmas this weekend...

To be fair, Warlord have patted themselves on the back for getting this out early..... Maybe the celebrations were a little unnecessary, a few more days checking might have sorted this.

According to warlord last I asked about trucks nobody wants them, since nobody wants trucks I guess the reason to include them doesn't exist.

That must be the "all the German Army ride in Hanomags" Brigade that told them this then!!
You would have thought to include them though as they make an Opel blitz!

Page 143 Under truck clearly shows its a generic list of trucks including captured. Opel is mentioned alongside the Protze as an example.

Happy reading,

Helen

Stop! This thread is not for trucks, it is for japanese basic list! Please, support this important question. Trucks are ok, but when we get older the importence of trucks getting smaller. But japanese list, they getting more important.

Then you will just have to wait until the supplements are published.

This option is out of discussion. A basic list should be there before August 2013.

Well it isn't is it? What do you want from them? A PDF? Your posts are a bit unclear other than mindless whinging. Plenty of other games have Japanese lists while you wait.

Sorry to sound harsh, but did they say the book would have Japanese lists in?

Reading elsewhere (http://warlordgames.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=5949), it looks like they are coming soon. Note the date of the post: about two weeks ago.

Maybe you just have to be a bit more patient...?

I can imagine that even quick lists may take a few weeks to put together, tweak and release! And that goes double for a "free release" when there might be other things that get some priority.

But Japan. It is like STar Wars without Jabba

But Jabba was cut from episode IV and reborn as the monsterous slug in Return of the Jedi. Just wait for a few years and the Japanese list will be a beast rather than some bloke in wierd clothing. (just watch out for the USMC bikini chain gang  ;) )

They are coming out with army books. Eventually there will be a Pac War book or Japanese book. Your complaints are akin to crying to GW about why they don't have all the stats for every army in the main rule book.

I played on Sunday using Germans and there was a truck in my force, so they clearly are there, not read the book, I was being run through the game by a couple of friends.

The secret is to offer to draft a list for them.

That's how I got Finns for RoE long before any supplements came out  ::)

Action brings satisfaction  ;)

Janner, I think is a good idea. But in the moment I have no idea about this point-system. It is hard to start working on a list without any information...

Thanks Helen, I've looked at that page so many times & never noticed the Truck entry tucked in there.  ::)

You are talking to the wrong forum. Go over to Warlords forum and ask nicely there.

Cheers,

Just use the DH Japanese list. I'm still using DH as a guide for Brit Paras and Russian platoons rather than use the generic BA lists

All the points are standard from memory for Inexperienced, Regulars and Veteran throughout the four armies.

Give them an Army specific rule that you "lift" from a rule set of your choice ...  :D

Exactly my advice. Take a Japanese lists of your liking (DPH, my Victory Decision book, whatever....)
Use a stand-in unit that fits the most. Play!

IMO it really is that simple, since BA is VERY generic.
And EVERY basic infantry squad in BA has 5 man PLUS the option to increase the size to the historical correct size (including the points...).
A Rifle is a rifle and a MMG is a MMG. Only rarely some weapons have specific rules (like Mg-42).

Yeah, but mine has pictures...  ::) 8) 8)

Agreed, DH is in fact also one of my favourite sets.
If only the vehicle rules would be more integrated.
It was in fact one of the reasons to write my own system...

I like the list of DH (well worked out), but I dont't like the rules. And you are right, agis, the pictures are missing.

No - we're paying £25GP for basic BA rules and stock photos. Give me the DH approach anytime. I have plenty of books with WW2 photos  ;)
