Title: Matt sprays comparison pics

I compared (a) Testors Dullcote, (b) Micador Mat Spray, and (c) Army Painter Anti-Shine on some dipped, glossy miniatures.

I am interested in this but when I click on your blog link all that opens up is the title with no content.

The base edge seems to be the best indicator for the effect.  :)

Interesting comparison photos, Barks.  I'd conclude from them that Testor's Dullcote is notably more matt than the other two, but that there isn't any significant difference between Micador and Army Painter.  Would you say that they look like that to the naked eye?

I'd say that the AP is more matt than the Micador.

(Matt? Matte?)

When I "de-glossed" my GW-Hills I had to find out, that matte-sprays dont work well on gloss unless you at least double the distance stated on the can. You can greatly influence the effect by distance, even up to intentional "frosting". Therefore I wonder if all the products you tested claim to work best at the same distance. Maybe some work well with the distance you usually use, and others don't. If you still have the cans, could you please look up this small detail?

Not a problem:

Dullcote: "Spray can 10"-12" from work in light coats to prevent sagging"

Army Painter: "Apply 2-3 very thin coats at a distance of 20-30cm."

Micador: "Hold can 20-25cm from surface."
