Title: 15mm Minis collection. Cthulhu arrived
Post by: karlosrolero on September 19, 2012, 11:29:39 AM
Hi fellas ! I've heard a little while about Strange Aeons and I ordered the manual and a Khurasan Octopus god. But I've got a problem, I dont like the minis for adventurer or cultists. Can you tell me about some good cultist (with the robes and stuff) and cool heros minis? While the rulebook and minis arrive I'm making 2 adventurers with other 15mm I've got and a Cthulhu Altar. Of course I'll post photos of both of em when I finish em. Sorry if my english is a bit poor but its not my native language.

For cultists, try:

- Rebel Minis
- 15mm.co.uk
- Alternative Armies
- Khurasan

Also, consider other suitable 15mm figures that would be robed (monks, nuns, etc) and just give them a suitable gun (if you want them to have a gun). Converting a monk into a robed cultist shouldn't be too difficult afterall! ;)

As for heroes, those same sites also carry a good range of hero and adventurer models. Are there any in particular heroes that you're after?

Here is a site that sells a 15mm scenery and a 15mm Wicker Man, something I found after making my 28 mm one.

Also, consider getting a fishman or two, they are popular choices as heavy-hitting close combat units supporting your cultists :)

Tried all the webs except Alternative Armies. I'll be looking for that. for heroes I was looking for a man with a Tommy, one lady and one professor with a book preferably. Maybe some druids or monks will do the deal, I dont mind if my minis has the equipment they use I look for the overall good look on the battlefield (and the fear factor haha).

They were the first monsters I was gonna buy  lol As I said I bought the Octopus God Aka Cthulhu and of course he should have some Deep Ones to go along ! I'll try making a shoggy from scratch with some foam and bbs from airsoft (eyes) and some Green Stuff for tentacles. Khurasan dont convince me on cultists nor heroes, but in monsters they're the best I've seen for Cthulhu and the Mythos !!

Thanks for the responses everyone I'll be cheking :D

Well, the rulebook has arrived ˇYay! Very simple rules and fast and exiting gameplay. First, pictures of the Altar Of Cthulhu (obelisk for some missions).

And here the first three adventurers. The left one is a fantasy wizard converted without the hat (probably a strange old man with a lot of Mythos skill lol ). In the center theres a Hunter custom made inspired on my World of Darkness character. He has a broadsword and a book (probably unausspresslichen kulten or the vermiis mysteries). It's my fist sculpture ever son dont be bad on me >.<. and the third is a german officer from some old Flames of War minis.

Post your opinions and i'll be adding more and more minis, objective markers and so on while I go making em.

Can't see anything wrong with them :) At 15mm you can make lots of scenery and still store it all in a box :)
Looking forward to seeing your painted Lurkers :)

For cultist in Robes, possibly try Wraiths from the various fantasy ranges (i'm trying to convert over some myself, having had the same issues). Also, no-one has mentioned 'splintered light miniatures', who have some useful miniatures, and 'Brigade Games' do a few (12) adventurer types.

Like I said, I hope you dont mind, it just makes it easier to check them out.
They had been up for a few days and I had missed out through laziness.
Thought this would help.
If you want me to remove the post, just say so.
 :)

I dont ! I upload this to share them with everybody, hoping that they give ideas and the people like the minis ^^ Just say "This guy made it" and I dont mind ^^ I will upload more when my new minis arrive (theyre late grrrrr  :-[ ). I just not show them like that because in many forums this is not allowed and I wasnt sure how large Photobucket uploaded them so I didnt want to have the horizontal scroll on the forum.

 :o :o :o

That is a truly impressive ot-so-miniature miniature!

Wonderful paintjob, and that glossy effect just adds to the grossness.
 :-*

The glossy effect was intended, it was 2 coats of glossy varnish. The edges of the body parts dissapeared and looks repulsive to the hands. I love it xD
