Title: Jumping on the EotD Bandwagon
Post by: undead_jon on September 30, 2012, 07:39:24 PM
It's all Van-Helsing's fault, I'd talked myself out of picking EotD up due to a number of reasons, then he kept posting up how good the game was and my willpower crumbled like a sand castle at high tide (which admittedly makes it kind of my fault...but I'm blaming him anyway ;)).

Anyway, a small outpouring of money later I now have both Nosferatu and Holy Orders boxes painted up:

Along with the Erasmus limited edition mini as well:

There are many more pictures, including individual shots up on my blog if people want to check it out:

I've demoed two games so far at my local club, both went really well with my opponents enjoying themselves, (naturally I lost both games on purpose to help sell the game...or at least that's my excuse :)), I'm hoping to get a few more interested and get a small campaign going if possible as I have plans for using the LAM Ottoman figures with the Sons of the Empire rules, but for now I'm really happy with both the rules and the figures I have.

I hope you like, C&C always welcome.

You know, I only just now realized what you mean by this is paint job, I've always been reading it as "pajamas' and thinking you mean you like the color of the clothes  ;D

great minis and great paintjobs. Although Chaos in Carpathia continues to serve me well I think I'll have to order this rulebook, just to read if nothing else. How many factions are there? I thought there were five from the website but I've never heard of Sons of the Empire. Or perhaps that's just another name for the Gentlemen's Club?

Nice looking factions. The paint jobs look great!

What's nice about skirmish level games, is you already have enough miniatures to start fighting it out!

Really nice, and the bases came out a treat! How long did they take you if I may ask?

You have four basic gangs: Gentlemen Clubs, The Brotherhood, Lycanthropes and Noferatu. The Gents can be themed into a subfaction of your choice if you want -each with its own advantages and disadvantages- and these are roughly: Darkfire Club (dark magic users), Sons of the Empire (stiff-upper-lip chaps who don't go in for silly things like magic and superstition, but who are well-liked by the authorities), Wolfenjaeger (Werewolf hunters with dogs... bit like Mordheim Witch Hunters) and the Zendarian Officers' Society (duellists and swordsmen without compare).

Glad you like them, I had fun painting them, especially as I'd been struggling to paint for longer than 10 minutes at a time for the previous few months.  These guys painted up really easily though which came as a relief, maybe not as fancy as I'd have done them previously but the simpler colour scheme helped me stay focused and I'm painting a fair bit more now which is a pleasant relief.

Yep, all your fault entirely...nothing to do with me at all (although in this case I'm glad I crumbled, you're right it is a great little game  :))

Oops, missed this first read through sorry.

Each box took me one week to paint, with about 2 hours of painting time spread over each day (one of the few advantages of unemployment).

I'd really been struggling to stay focused at the painting table for a few months, not being able to paint for longer than about 10 minutes at any one time, but I really wanted to paint these up so picked pretty basic colours and used them through the whole of each group, I found it really helped to keep me focused and get them done.
