I'm giving my growing Raider gang a large mutant Raider from the Dark-Age game, named Mongo, just to have that hedge vs. Super Mutants and Power Armor
(http://www.artemisblacks.com/darkage/images/outcasts/Outcast%20Mongo%20%281%29.jpg)
It's not canon, but plausible in my mind ;)
-
Why not? After all the slavers at Evergreen Mills kept a Behemoth!
-
yep, so did Taggart's gang
(http://www.kchodorow.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/mongo.png)
And his name was Mongo ;)
-
I am using that model as a behemoth for my supermutants :D
-
Cool! Did you give him a car door, a shopping cart, and a fire hydrant?
-
You Know What!?! - You are absolutely Right! :o
(http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a13/dsteingass/IMG_5827.jpg)
He will make a much better Behemoth!

This other Dark Age Outcast Brute Pusher DAG5106
Will fit much better as a Raider Heavy

The Two Juves are from Neuroshima Tactics

"What is it about Freeside and Psychotic brothers and sisters -sheesh" -Julie Farkas
It's doesn't appear to be in English, so I'm afraid I don't know much about it, it was something that dzur3000 had in stock in his ebay store, so I grabbed them to save on shipping ;)
-
It had to be done.

:o Fantastic! Love the converted shopping trolley and fire hydrant!
-
That is awesome!! Love the conversions. :o
-
Thanks guys!
-
Awesome, ok sorry about the thread mixup there..
I've made some progress on the Super Mutants, I'll probably tweak a few things with the paintjobs still, but here you get the general idea.
Behemoth
(http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a13/dsteingass/IMG_5902.jpg)
I also have WIP pics of the actual conversion process if anyone is interested
Super Mutant

Scale Shot
(http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a13/dsteingass/IMG_5910.jpg)
And now, I am working on a Super Mutant Brute conversion from a Brother Vinni stock
(http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a13/dsteingass/IMG_5916.jpg)
I'm not happy with the Minigun, the barrels needs some rework yet, but hopefully, it will resemble the Brute when I'm done

Super Mutant Beautiful!
-
Great work.
-
Really great, love how the Behemoth turned out :)
-
Great work on the behemoth and I really like the skin painting. :-*
-
I hated those muties with the mini guns! Always seemed to run across them when I was already wounded...lol. Wonderful work on these figs. :-*
-
Those are some disgustingly good conversions ;D
And the PJ's are outstanding.
:-* :-* :-*
-
Fantastic work , although I may be tempted to swap the head on the Behemoth.
-
Thanks for the love guys! I really do appreciate it!
We've actually had this discussion at length on my regular P&M Blog about the head. Many people mention that, but the head is exactly the scale size as the Behemoth, the difference is, he is wearing an armored mantle, which would be covering most of the bulky neck. And then there are the questions of WHAT head to swap it with? and why would the F.E.V. virus mutate each Behemoth identically, when the supposedly more controlled West Coast F.E.V. has shown to produce so much variation in Super Mutants?
-
Love the conversion work there. Makes me want to put together a Fallout-esque type gang and wish my current laptop was capable of running Fallout 3.
-
Thanks guys! Apologies on the lack of progress here, I needed a diorama/photography set to properly photograph the different factions I am working on

t's made from Russian Robogear-type panels I got from ebay, the floor casts are my own, the hatch doors are from my good friend Kit @ www.zinge.co.uk, the random machinery under the stairs is Pegasus Chem plant bits, Plastruct O gauge stairs/rails and printer parts.

From left to right, the Raider Heavy , the Leader "Crabs", and the previously seen juve.
THis pic is simply to illustrate that there is a slight scale difference between manufacturers, but they work well together
-
That diorama is superb! Stunning stuff!
-
Wow, just wow! :o
-
Thanks! It was easier to do than it looks ;)
-
Looking really great, and I really like your diorama backdrop!
-
Excellent diorama, perfectly captures fallout style. :o
-
Excellent job!! You have certainly done Fallout justice. :)
-
Here is some new stuff, Scratchbuilt Corvega and billboard, enjoy!

Zat's just brill!!! :-*

Mutantastic!
-
Excellent job!
The details are awesome.
-
Great work on everything so far dude. I especially like the behemoth. Dark Age really do have some awesome models!
-
Thanks a lot guys!
Small update here, but it took me forever to scratch the Raider Blastmaster armor for this Hasslefree Vault Dweller (Idea stolen from here at LAF)

"I've got a bad feeling about this"
-
lovely character.
That pipboy is ace !
-
Wonderful stuff! :-* :-* :-*
-
Thanks guys! The pip boy is just scrap shapes of thin plastic glued onto his molded-on watch ;)
-
Fantastic work on all of them and the terrain. The Vault Dweller conversion is just excellent!
-
Thanks ever so much guys! I really appreciate the C&C!
Well, I'm back with some more terrain, this time I'm making a focused effort on populating a table
This is the first ruin in a series of modular sidewalk bases.

I used O scale DPM panels for the walls, 1/8" PVC foam for interior walls, 1/4" for sidewalk, styrene, Hirst molds for cornice and the interior wall decrepitness was created with thin drywall mud.
I've since gone back to the original 2" sidewalks though, it better fits the in-game look IMHO.

The second ruin is WIP now.
-
:o
That is beautiful !
:-* :-* :-*
-
Very nice ruin. :)
-
Very nice ruins. Love the Nuka Break billboard and and vault dweller conversion.
-
Beautiful building, sir. Wonderful job on the billboard. And bonus for converting that version of Ken to a Dweller - I hadn't considered that model.
-
Not sure how I've missed this thread... but happy to have found it.
You've really captured the feel of the game there, quite incredibly.
Which figures did you use for the Brotherhood?
-
Those are "PostApoc Power Armour" from Brother Vinni. He does a range of 'Not-Fallout' stuff called "Nuclear Sandlot"
-
That ruin is stunning :-*
-
:-* :-*
I love the peeling wallpaper effect you have produced. At gaming level it looks spot on. Up cclise though the black lining looks a little wide, what do you think?
The building, colour scheme and sidewalk are spot on. They will look good when finished. :)
Cheers
Matt
-
I burst out laughing at how great that billboard is. The building only enhances it. Well done, sir.
-
Thanks guys! EmperorPenguin is correct, they are Brother Vinnis from Russia, fantastic figures!
The chipping was actually an accidental effect. I had to paint the interior before joining the back wall section to the building. I then masked off the interior to paint the exterior.
(http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a13/dsteingass/Fallout/IMG_8070_zps0f5dcddd.jpg) (http://s8.photobucket.com/user/dsteingass/media/Fallout/IMG_8070_zps0f5dcddd.jpg.html)
I apparently didn't allow the drywall mud to cure long enough and this happened :o
(http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a13/dsteingass/Fallout/IMG_8083_zps7b2bbc83.jpg) (http://s8.photobucket.com/user/dsteingass/media/Fallout/IMG_8083_zps7b2bbc83.jpg.html)
The chips could use a few scrapes with a drybrush ;)
-
Simply fantastic! Bravo! :-*
-
Those are "PostApoc Power Armour" from Brother Vinni. He does a range of 'Not-Fallout' stuff called "Nuclear Sandlot"
Thanks. 8)
-
The chipping was actually an accidental effect.
Now if you ever try to get the same effect deliberately, it will never happen again. lol
-
Haha..well, I'm going to try to do it on purpose on the next (current ruin), wish me accidental luck ;) Thanks a lot guys!
-
I love your ruins! They make my tables look a little bland :)
-
Wow an accident. That has got to be one of the happiest accidents around. It's spot on and gives a lovely peel effect.
Good luck on the next one!
Cheers
Matt.
-
We don't make mistakes- we have Happy Acidents -Bob Ross ;)

This one had a lot more trimwork. If you guys aren't interested in the WIPs, I can wait until it's done, but I really do appreciate the C&C. Sometimes, things bug me, and it's a good sign when someone else notices it too (like the re-primering inside the chips)
-
Fantastic work! You're doing great! :-*
-
I love those window sills! :-*
-
If you guys aren't interested in the WIPs, I can wait until it's done, but I really do appreciate the C&C.
:o
We adore WIPs here, and to suggest otherwise is close to heresy.
-
If you guys aren't interested in the WIPs, I can wait until it's done, but I really do appreciate the C&C.
Not interested ??? :o
We thrive on WIPs.
Well that and the occassional fix of fresh lead, resin or plastic :D
-
Absolutely keep 'em coming!
-
Wow, just holy mackerel wow! Really nice ruins, weathering and detailing on this project.
What did you use for the exterior walls of the buildings? They look very good and very effective.
-
Wow!
That is some beautifully ugly terrain. You've really captured perfect post-apocalyptic decrepitude.
Impressive.
-
Just read through this thread; great work! I love the look of the ruins, they're realistic and changeable. I think ruins should have as much attention to detail as whole buildings.
-
Thanks guys! The walls are O scale plastic DPM panels marketed for O scale train hobbyists.
The DPM panels are NOT easy to work with, requiring a belt sander to cut 45 degree angles on the sides where they join to each other.
-
Here's an update!

Sweet!

+1
I've been looking into those DPM kits, but the US vs EU P&P holds me back :'(
-
Thanks Zizi! There is a European Bachmann dealer that sells the DPM stuff (all of it from the looks of it)
http://www.bachmann.co.uk/prod1.php?prod_selected=scenics&prod=10
You REALLY need a belt sander though. I tried just sandpaper and cutting with a knife and it's never really a true 45 degree bevel.
-
This resin kit was just too nice to turn into a ruin, so it'll be an intact building
(http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a13/dsteingass/Fallout/IMG_8174_zps41fb7715.jpg) (http://s8.photobucket.com/user/dsteingass/media/Fallout/IMG_8174_zps41fb7715.jpg.html)
Maybe Cornucopia Fresh Groceries..I haven't decided yet. The grocery sign would be a complicated build, but probably worth it.
(http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a13/dsteingass/Fallout/IMG_8175_zps6ac50917.jpg) (http://s8.photobucket.com/user/dsteingass/media/Fallout/IMG_8175_zps6ac50917.jpg.html)
-
That is yummy stuff. If you like the DPM parts, you might also like the "Ameritowne" line from O Gauge Railroading. They make both full kits and wall pannels:
http://ogaugerr.com/railroad/index.php?cPath=22 (http://ogaugerr.com/railroad/index.php?cPath=22)
-
You know? I've been looking at those in an O Gage RR magazine lately! I wish I could see the naked parts though before I order any....
The prices are great, but they also make me wonder if it's too good to be true. Have you built any of them?
-
I found a couple of the Ameritowne building fronts at my local Hobby shop today. They look like great kitbashing material. Thanks for the suggestion.

-
Yes I've worked with them before and I think I have a couple of parts still kicking around. I'll try to takes some pictures tomorrow.
-
Excellent! The 6" dimensions work well with my 2" sidewalk pavement standards.

And reference shots, actual construction will most likely vary.
UPDATE: I had to order Slater's Plastikard 5mm plastic letters from the UK ebay, so I won't get the sign built for a couple of weeks.
-
Those look great. Here are a couple of shots of a OGRR piece I had left over from a project. They are scored on the back so that they can be snapped into single stories. The only thing I really don't like about them are the locating tabs on the back that need to be chiseled off if you want to add an interior.

Nice! Thanks! The pins do look inconvenient, but it's really no work at all compared to the plastic DPM panels. I don't suppose they were manufactured with post-apocalyptic ruins in mind ;)

Yeah, I doubt tabletop gamers are even a blip on their sales numbers compared to rail-roaders.
-
Love the effect you have with the loose & broken tiles scattered about.
-
Thanks! That's actually one of the easier effects, however, for some reason, the last sheet of 1/4" Plastruct tile I got was a bit thicker than previous purchases, therefore it caused a bit more hand strain with the knife cutting random tiles out of the sheet. The embossed lines make the lineup rather easy though. If you look closely, only the top left floor has the thinner stuff, I tried to add plenty of RR ballast to the floors and edges to hide a possible scalebuster.

A really good guy, Taarnak took my rough sketches and some screenshots and drew me some digital templates for the sign

Now I'm just waiting for some 5mm styrene letters to arrive from Europe

Aw, shucks. You'll make me blush. :D (I'm Taarnak @ Dakka, btw, for anyone who is confused. Lol )
Dave, I'm real happy to see they worked. I like how you did the edging too. Can't wait to see the finished product.

Edit:
Sizing looks good too. Very happy how it turned out.
-
Sizing is perfect! If you've got the time, I may have some New Vegas signs (Smitty's bar, etc.) that I'd like done too!
Thanks again man!

Ok, work has progressed, everything is glued together finally and sprayed with a diluted coat of black India ink

That is looking so great! :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*
I wish the resin walls were available around here too.

Thanks Anpu!
You want to look for Bachmann train dealers. Is Sweden on the Euro? If so, does it cost you to get things shipped from the UK?
The other three sides are Nothing special, because they will have other buildings/ruins butted up against them, but they are all done.

Not much useful, unless you've got the perk to turn tin cans into ammo ;)
-
Great stuff. Really captures that Fallout vibe.
:-*
BTW : those tin cans sure look the part. How did you make 'em ?

This is AWESOME :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*

Thanks! I'm glad you asked!

What a tops build, and those little cans are flipping fantastic! Great ideas! I may have to borrow them, as my wasteland shelves are a bit empty.
While your in a tip sharing mood, how are the nuka colas constructed?
Cheers
Matt

The Nuka Cola bottles are actually clear resin casts, done by my friend. He had them for sale for awhile, but his job moved him to Alaska unfortunately.

Well i am sure your still allowed to cast stuff in Alaska?
And for sure mail is still delivered to and from Alaska. :-)
Your friend still do this stuff? And care to share his goodies with the world?
And been loving this project a ton. Don't be stopping any time soon. Or move to Alaska. :-)

4mm styrene tube and a pipe cutter to score the lines
Oh goodie, I've got a cutter like that lying around somewhere. If I ever find out where I misplaced it, I can start making tin cans ;D

Well if you cant find your pipe cutter you can just go the easy route and get that miniaturizer going and empty some real cans. :-)

It's not that simple, he lives in the Seattle Area, but has to leave his family for months at a time to work in Alaska, so his side sculpting/casting business has been put on hold for the forseeable future. I know, I know..RL interfering with hobby life..a travesty. Airlines nowadays don't allow you to carry things like pressure pots aboard planes.
-
Amazing work!
Very well done!
:-*
-
Thanks!
on the subject of Pipe Cutters- I learned a hard lesson and bought the expensive K&S Engineering pipe cutter, but the cheap, $4 red Taiwan-built cutter is a superior tool to the more expensive K&S tool.
-
Nothing else to say, exept
Wouaw!

HA! Damn that real life stuff.
But i see a fix right here. Just tell him to buy his own plane. Problem solved i think. :-)

On the bottles, there is an O-Gauge RR company that sells clear plastic bottles as well as a crate for them but I can't seem to remember which one.
-
There is a shady-looking ebay listing out there
http://www.ebay.com/itm/96-COCA-COLA-BOTTLES-1-43-O-Scale-/380175860490
Seems like a deceptive picture/description to me
I PM'd my buddy to see if he has any bottles left, if anyone is interested. No promises though.

Yeah, been oogling that listing for a while now. Maybe I'll bite when the time is right (read : when I made way more progress on my Fallout stuff)
-
I'm interested! For the price of a international stamp shipping would be pretty good on those to down under.
-
How many would you be interested in Constable?
-
Oooh how many ya got? ;) is say around 10 of the little bottles should be enough if strategically placed. Lol
-
If any of you lads have a dremel or rotary tool, try taking the ink-tube out of a pen, cleaning it a bit if it's got too much ink in and then stick that part-way into the dremel.. Spin it, shape it carefully with a file.
Voila.
If you file too close to the centre and open the tube up, smashed bottle!
-
Just a ask... Are you human? :o
It's wonderfull!!!
-
Those buildings are fantastic!! I have to has, how did you do the peeling wallpaper effect? Was it all by accident or have you found a way to reproduce those effects? Ive got some Pasticville buildings coming in the mail and id LOVE to reproduce that effect.
Keep up the amazing work!
