Title: (KICKSTARTER) Alien Centoids: Kickstarter Launched Page 3
Post by: whiffwaff on October 22, 2012, 06:53:01 PM
Hi all,

Been working on these for a little while in between other projects.

I put a test figure together earlier this year but have tweaked the dims etc and overall look. Also these are multipart figures. The lower body comes in 2 parts, the torso is separate and finally the head is on a ball joint so you can pose as you see fit.

This is just one combo but there are 8 lower body sides in the works (4 left and 4 right) which are all interchangeable, lots of torsos with different weapon options and lots of heads

Looks great! I deffinately want some, but I would like to see some heads with face masks, like the Rogue Trader Zoats.

Good work though, please show more pictures when available :)

Fantastic work!

Didn't Peter Hamilton's Nights Dawn books also feature a centaur-like race that had an especially big and mean warrior caste?

As I understood that tiresome tome, of the xenos mentioned therein both the Kiint and the Tyratcha are at least somewhat centauroid. The former are extremely large however and have eight legs as well as two "multipurpose arms" and they don't have castes as such. Am not sure if the number of appendages of the latter is specified but they are supposedly "faintly equine in appearance and about the size of a horse", with "two arms [extending] from behind the base of the neck, each with a nine finger circular hand". The Tyratcha had a slightly ant-like caste system with bred hunter/warriors.

After much swearing and teeth gnashing... I finished of the bodies

All interchangeable, 3 left and 3 right sides.

Working on the torsos now.

I know that feeling, multiparts are the devils work! But once they are done, totally worth it! Now you just have to hope they will fit together after molding!!!

If you're gonna offer them as Posleen, you need to release  them in sets of a 100.

These chaps have just received some heavy support...

As before the body is two side and interchangeable, the torso is on a ball joint as it the head.

Lots more to come in the next few days as a whole load are being finished up.

If you're gonna offer them as Posleen, you need to release  them in sets of a 100.

There will be that option  ;D

I meant to get these up earlier this week but have been a bit busy with a few other bits. Any-hoo...

A load of of updates. ALL WIPS

These guys will initially be released (details of where you can get them to follow) in squads of 4. There will be 5 squad variants with different ranged weapons, then there will be a commander figure and a support weapon. Would like to add some close combat troopers, maybe a mage type figure etc.

Remember the bodies are 2 part and are completley interchangeable, the torsos fit all the bodies and the heads are on ball joints and fit all the bodies... so lots of variety for you. Bear that in mind when you look at the photos though, the minis are held together with puty, the final join once glued will be much closer.

So first up an example of a Bio-weapon armed trooper:

Rifle 3: Still Being worked on... Pics to follow :)

Rifle 4: This is an example of how a squad will look.

Support Weapon:

And finally a quick shot with another manufacturers figure to give you an idea of size.

Hoping to have the rest of the squads finished and the Commander done over the weekend / early next week.

Cheers

They look quite nice... But I am not really sure if the unmasked heads work for me, I think they somehow look almost like they have a ducks beak, but that might change with a coat of paint.
Title: Re: Alien Centaurs : Support trooper added
Post by: whiffwaff on October 31, 2012, 05:48:41 PM
the heads are on ball joints and fit all the bodies...

You'll be able to just use the Gas Mask heads if you wanted to  :)

Also there is a curved line of light which accentuates that "Billed" look in the photos. We'll get some better ones up shortly.

Cool.

I have some Zoats, but getting enough for an army is ridiculous.

This looks to offer me a nice alternative.

Love the bodies and posing, as well as the masked head. Unfortunately I really dislike the beaks on the bare heads. Any chance of an expanded selection of masked heads?

There are 27 heads in total so we should be able to help you out,

Only a handful have been shown here

Theses are really nice but I am trying to "downsize"  Literally and Figuratively (bad not quite a pun acknowledged.)   ::)

I am looking for smaller scale figures (1/600th replacing 1/300th) and reducing (especially 25+ mm,) in number my armies in preparation for retirement.  They are 20 years too late I am afraid.

Gracias,

Glenn

Argh, good initiative... BUT...

Personally I don't really like kickstarter, since I really have no idea of my financial situation from month to month, so it is hard for me to know if I wil have the funds when the day come to pay.

This might have been the first kickstarter project for me to pledge to, but ending in December I can already no say that I won't have the money and will by counting any penny by then.

I wish it could be pushed back to end in January, which would also give more time for pledgers to join.

On another note, what paying options are available with kickstarter? I might get some money into my paypal before December, but deffinately not to my Visa.

Hi All,

Firstly a huge thanks to our backers and to those who have sent us comments and encouragement direct.

This morning we are cancelling this Kickstarter.

We were approached by a third party over the weekend with an offer to purchase the whole range of figures. We have decided that this would be the best route to go. These figures, and more, will still be put into production. I'll send each of you an update as to where they can be purchased from asap.

Again many thanks for your support
