Because I didn't want to call it "Yet another Conan Thread". Anyway I'm working on a new Conan Project so this will be my project log. First up is a small group of adventurers. All of these are from Reaper. The temple ruins are some fish tank decorations I got from Walmart.
-
Lovely :-*
-
Really awesome. Now I need to go to Walmart... :P
-
You are off to a good start.
-
Those are great PJ's. The Cobra shield is wonderful.
I have those same aquarium pieces. I love Wal-Mart.
-
We cant get enough from Conan. This looks promising. Good terrain ! I use the same miniatures for my Conan.
-
Oh yeah - love the terrain!
Minis are rather nice too 8)
-
Brilliant love it and its Conan so awesome
-
Nice :-*
More please!

-
Ohh, exciting! Love Conan and I certainly enjoy looking at models like that. So far it all looks really promising. Keep on posting.
-
Yet again, you don't disappoint! Lovely painting, looking forwards to see more.

-
This is going to be good, I can tell already.
-
Very good. Can't wait to see some AARs and more models and scenery 8)
-
Awesome stuff!
You really captured the feel of a Conan adventure!
I am very impressed.
I have been waning to start a Conan project myself, but other stuff keeps coping my panting table. Som day!
-
Wow looks great,more of Conan.
-
Barbarians! Always good!
;D

Hey guys sorry for the lack of updates. We have been working on the project but a lot of things are still in the WIP stage. Here are some generic ruins we are working on highly inspired by the brilliant Matakishi. These aren't just for the Conan project but we are doing them as part of the project if that makes sense. I really want to add a temple as a focus building and a few more ruins. We are also going to be making some removable jungle bits to make it look more overgrown. These will probably be painted dark stone color with flock and turf added for mossy overgrowth.
-
You are certainly off to a great start there. :D
-
Nice start to a temple complex.
-
Yes, those look great already!
-
Beautifully done! Looking forward to seeing more.
-
Looks great! What is your gaming mat made from? It looks really nice as large flagstone courtyards.
-
Some really nice work.
Those figures are beautifully painted and that aquarium piece is very nice, too.
Have you repainted it?
I have the same thing but it is very plain compared to yours.
-
RISE THREAD! RIIIIISSSSEEEEE!

We finally got some paint on the "Ancient" ruins we were working on.
Of course these will work for a number of settings but we are making them primarily for the Hyborian project.
-
Great work on this project.Nice to see it near to completion too. What are you going to do for it next? Some scatter terrain would look good.
-
Great job on those. I just got a box of figures from Bronze age miniatures and they do some nice Conan figures. I got a really nice freebie from the sale the just had of a "death dealer" which is fantastic and is now going to be used as my Dragon rider. Check them out
-
Looks great, very inspiring. I might do some more Conan stuff myself based on this.
-
You can never have too much Conan (the awful remake not withstanding)!!
-
There is something incredibly appealing about Conan & Barbarians in general; your WONDERFULLY DONE minis & terrain only make it more so. GREAT & INSPIRING STUFF!
-
That looks awesome. Where do you store all your terrain? Between this and your scifi terrain I would imagine that a good portion of your garage or basement is filled. Well done I'm looking forward to seeing the game reports.

I'm lucky enough to not only have a lot of space where I live but also a gamer wife so I don't have to fight with her about the amount of space our hobby takes up. I also try and keep it fairly organized. This set fits in one moderately sized storage tub with some room to spare for more stuff later on.
Thanks for the kind words everyone! I've been digging through my miniature collection and pulling out the bits I want to use for this project. I think the next terrain project will be an Aqualonian village/town.
-
Yay for Conan! Looking forward to some batreps.
-
Your table is looking great! :-*
Now that i have all my jungle pieces ready i need some buildings/ruins. I think iīll take inspiration from your table. :D
-
Anyone have any suggestions for Hyborian style pirates? I'm also looking for baboons.
-
Depends on what region of Hyboria you mean, for more southern like pirates i will use these from Perry Metall Crusades/Muslim Army:
(http://i359.photobucket.com/albums/oo34/iggy/CROM/P7090011_zps66ef2798.jpg) (http://s359.photobucket.com/user/iggy/media/CROM/P7090011_zps66ef2798.jpg.html)
For more northern like pirates i would use Ancient Germans from Wargames Factory or Celts from Warlord Games.
Obelisk Miniatrues had some fine baboons, but i donīt know if you can still get them.

I have a long game report up on my blog for our "Forgotten Islands" Hyborian Savage Worlds campaign. It is an RPG report so it has quite a bit more "story" than a wargame battle report. It is far too large to post here.

Nice. Ilike the way your buildings stack to make a tower. Going to steal that :D

Steal away! I would have never thought to make these buildings without your cork tutorials.
-
That was one epic AAR.
-
Love the models and terrian and AAR superb stuff heheh

I just ordered a pack of those Perry minis and a pack of archers from the same line. I think they are going to work quite nicely.

Just thought I would post some pics of some of my recent minis for the Conan Project. Above are a batch of Reaper figs.
These Slavers are "Servants of Set" from the Chaos in Cairo line by Westwind I think.
Sorry about the kind of crappy pics. I just handheld the shots with direct flash. Ran out of time to set up better lighting so they look a bit shinier than in real life.
-
Fantastic work. ;D
-
Now that's the way to start a day...OUTSTANDING minis in a BEAUTIFULLY crafted setting. GREAT STUFF!
-
Great Thread love the terrain and miniatures. Probably to late now. My Conan knowledge is vague at best but what about those LOTR Corsairs of Umbar?

Those are nice but I don't know how they will scale against the 28mm I use.
-
Great minis :)
-
Nice figure work again! Who makes the rogue and female warrior? (1st and 3rd figures)

Made a little raft for the slavers in my Forgotten Islands campaign. I'll be using it in the next game.
-
Love the raft!

Have a few more minis painted for the campaign. Above are some slaver specialist. I painted the humans and my wife painted the hyena.

Here are the two characters from my campaign slightly upgraded. I don't plan to do this kind of thing every game but I will be doing it every now and again to represent character advancement.

I've updated my blog with another game report from my Savage Worlds "Forgotten Islands" Hyborian campaign. This is another long report so I'm just going to link it again.

Working on a small sailboat for my campaign. I plan to make several like this and similar sized ones of different designs so I wanted to keep the design simple enough to crank out a small flotilla. I also plan to make a few larger ships for the campaign but I don't intend to introduce them right away because I don't want the players to accidentally acquire an ocean worthy vessel too early in the campaign. This one is a good size for a small party to be able to island hop.
-
I've got two more game reports up on my blog.

The party is much larger now. :)

Cracking stuff as always Nathan. It's always quite amazing to see just how much gaming you seem get in compared to me and to such a good standard too.

I hope I'm not just spamming the board with these. I'm not just trying to bump this thread. People seemed pretty interested when I started this topic.
-
I'm reading them at least, it makes me jelous (of the fact you have a group willing to play this kind of thing lol).
-
They're great, very inspiring.
-
Interested indeed! Keep on posting. I love how your campaign develops and iīm as jealous as maxxev, since i would like a group of regular players, too. Although for CROM for obvious reasons. ;)
-
Hey I know I haven't updated this post in a long time. I've actually had three more sessions including the final chapter of the "Tomb of Voltannox" adventure. This session was played out last October and I just managed to post it on my blog.

A couple of shots from the game:

I hope to post the final session of this adventure and our last session which we played just a couple weeks ago soon.

Is that Wolfshead, from the old WD Personalities box, in the zebra-mowhawk helmet down there? Good to see him getting an airing! I have two upstairs, but never managed to sort out my Griselda figure (it was a miscast when I got the boxed set but I never returned it for some reason). Always had a soft spot for Wolfshead.

I believe it is. I've had the fig since the 80s. I have a couple other copies of him I picked up a few years ago. I plan to paint them as a group sometime. I actually have all new figures for the party that I am trying to get painted.
-
Yeah, me too (or two)! I got the first in a blister of 'Heroic Fighters' (or something, they may even have been 'Chaos Warriors') and the second in the boxed set. I like the heroic Greek style of the fig and always thought he'd make a good adventurer. As my current campaign has a slightly Greek feel to it, I might dig him out as a hero for that...
Your campaign looks like great fun. I'm so envious of your ability to produce simple and playable terrain that also looks really evocative. And some great minis too! I really like the Sinbad-y pirate type with the massive sword, and the big barbarian fellow really looks the part.

It's a pretty big report with 19 images.
and a couple more pics.
