Seen at 'Warfare' today: first 3 packs of very nice Afghan/Pathans suitable for late 19th century 'Great Games'.
-
I think they are meant for a little later than that, given the Lee-Enfields, Lewis guns and such. 3rd Afghan War and beyond.
Unless of course we are talking about two different things. :)

on webby as jazz age??? http://www.empressminiatures.com/userimages/procart13.htm

Boo, my hopes were up for a second then :(
-
At a push you could use them as moderns - there's nowt wrong with a Lee-Enfield.

What's wrong with the Afghans from Newline Designs, as a matter of interest?
-
Nice models, but I wish they would bulk out their AZW range more before going into new ventures. I still wait for the promised skirsmishing infantry and sailors.

Hadn't seen them to be honest. It's not the Afghans I'm after though, it's their opponents. Anyone know how the Indian/Sikh troops scale with other ranges?

I asked Paul a few weeks ago and it looks like its going to be Next year Jonas :(

There are plenty of Walz Age pathans around. Foundry, for example. :)

Not so far off in the future, so I think it is just good news that it will happen... After all I have lot of models to paint still....

That's fair enough! Seems like they were kept quiet.

Don't want dirty Pathans from a dirty company ;)

Mine are mostly Old Glory; one of their better ranges. I do like the look of those Empress ones though
-
Talking to the empress team today the Zulu stuff will have a massive wave in January ....
Anyway back to the afgans saw them up close and they are incredible... girlfriend definitely went online when we got home and made a few orders for Christmas because someone couldn't shut up ::)

Different period. Those are for the late 19th Century, not post 1919.

Which is what this thread is on. The original poster thought the Empress figures were for 19th Century gaming.
-
Ah. Apologies (danger of just reading the 'new posts' instead of browsing by room).
-
:'( Damn. I was hoping the NWF range was going to be for the 1890s.
But they are nice figures and will be very suitable for Pulp adventures.
The Pathans (without command) could hide in with my Old Glory and Foundry tribesmen. So they managed to steal some magazine rifles? ;)
-
Just lovely. I will be purchasing after I've bought up the entire NZ Wars range 8).
Darrell.
-
These look great and who knows, maybe Empress will release a couple of packs of "poorly" armed Afghans ie: Martini-henrys,Sniders and Jezzails etc.
-
I've been talking to them on and off for a while about doing the 1890s. it IS on their "to do" list but it isn't particularly near the top. Maybe if everybody keeps pestering them they may do it. Or even better, if someone bankrolls it (which is what has happened with the last 2 ranges I believe)...
-
Perhaps someone should point Empress towards Kickstarter....
-
Must be about time Empress announced what the new modern additions are.

Yep. Just about time.

There comes a point where tease style advertising simply becomes irritating.
-
Agreed, I got over tease advertising when I was a kid. Tell me what your going to make, and make it. Don't draw it out, this whole things are better if you wait is bull.

Who is this young lady of whom you are talking? Does she perchance have a sister? :)

Ah. Was your nickname around the block 'Easy' commisarmoody? :)
-
Well, I've already said that it was going to be new insurgent packs elsewhere (surprisingly not on a thread about the NW Frontier).
I'm not advertising anything on this thread and wouldn't have mentioned it if it hadn't been brought up by the usual parties.

Pedr, in my experience they almost always do, in fact they can often lay claim to a whole sisterhood. There's always a fine line between flirtation and being a tease. :)
