Hostilities intensify on Mars, but this time not with the indiginous population.
Great Britain along with Japan and their Kosindan mercenaries faced off against France and the Venezian/Papal alliance.

I assumed just dumbfounded awe!
Truly lovely spread, and enough 'nefs to set my heart a twitter. Of the non-electronic variety.

Great pics. Love the war face in the first pic, what a bunch of aggressive gamers!!
-
:o :o :o
Great eye-candy!
:-* :-* :-*
Everything on the table is seriously top-notch and beautifully turned out.
Well done, chaps!
DrDe'Ath seen yawning at the prospect of another thrashing for the Frenchies:
I thought that the good Dr was bellowing a war-cry...in French, of course!
-
You have taken your time getting these pic up, slacker :D
I am gob smacked you actually managed to get all these great figures on to the table. When you were setting up there just seemed to be more and more boxes being opened. You will need to get your terrain builder to make a bigger board for future engagements.
Lovely eye candie :-* :-* :-*

VSF at its best!

Beautiful game. Wish I could be there to play.
-
Sweet, very sweet.
Love the photos.

The BLAM Mars stuff is always amazing !

Great stuff! You are rekindeling my VSF bug....! lol Thanks for taking the time to take the pictures and post them here! Where is BLAM held?

It was certainly a feast for the eyes! And a carnage, as these things tend to be. My (I say 'my', they are Bullshots) Homme Perroquet Cytherien irregulars benefited little from having been converted to Catholicism by French missionaries as they were turned into green mincemeat by the automaton dervishes serviced by a heathen walla in a turban. I also handled the Legionnaires Extraterrestriale which were flatten when one of the Japanese nefs was brought down by a fierce attack from a red Martian skiff. This was of course after the same troops had told the international presscorps a thing or two about the consequences of exposing intimate details about the French president and the famous Moulin Rouge cancaniuse Anna Tommiedereve.
By the by, BLAM is in England (MacLAM in Scotland, GLAM in Germany, SLAM in Sweden,; I am not sure whether there have been any CLAMs in Canada or JuteLAMs in Denmark). They are not open conventions but 'meets' between like minded chaps and ladies, where most participants have met on this forum. They usually are by invitation only to keep the numbers down to something manageable.

"They're quite mad, you know!" ;) But its still wonderful stuff! :-*

Now that is what I call a battle!
Jolly good show chaps! :-*
Amazing really...
-
Cracking stuff, love the Venusian parrot men, how do you know if they are dead or just sleeping though?
-
Absolutely brilliant stuff! :-* :-* Well done chaps.
I assumed Dr De'ath had discovered the hard way the lancers had been left on his chair.
Dr. V, I've never seen you with so much hair, almost drew my attention away from those trousers.
-
I'll put mine up at the weekend as I have not time this week :(
Good game though, even with the piss taking ;D lol
cheers

Is the second Japanese 'nef actually designed to have removable bits to simulate damage, or was that snapped off fin an accidental breaking of the fourth wall?

Not to simulate damage but to make for safer storage, I believe.

Lovely stuff, the type of thing that makes me want to leap straight into VSF crying God Save the Queen!
Can you tell me which range the figures from the Kalibar Lancers come from?

They are Old Glory from their North West Frontier range.

Ahha, thanks! I've a hankering to do a project based on Stirling's 'The Peshawar Lancers' - I think these might be just the thing I'm after. Possibly with Empress' new Afghans on the other side, although I imagine there is something of a size difference. Thanks for letting me know!

Empress' new Afghans are for the 1920's so will have a bit of a weapons advatage there....

Beautiful – yet bloody frustrating when I look at my measly under equipped forces and think how many
days, weeks years of my life will pass until I will be able to field such an wonderful array of figures. You bastards! >:(

Remember that the figures in this game were from 5 players' collections:
Venetzian alliance:
Venetzians + Papal - Dewbakuk
French - Bullshott
Canal tax dodgers:
British - Malamute
Japanese - jimbibbly
Koshindans - Dr De'Ath
Troops per national force were:
1 command group or leader in impervious suit
3 troop units (automatons for Koshindans)
2 vehicles
plus an additional 2 aeronefs per side
-
You are forgetting the maverick Red Martians.
By the by: were does the name Koshindan stem from? I find nothing Googling it.

That's because people keep mispelling it, the correct spelling of the country is Kosinda (no 'h') which it the Victorian spelling of the modern Cosinda.
The other reason is because Kosinda is a fictional African country of my own making - it came about as a setting for a number of large skirmish games played by a group of friends in the '80s using 20mm platoon 20 figures. We needed a 1970's African setting and while trying to think of a name I noticed the Co/Sin button on my scientific calculator (for working out sin and cosin); we added a 'da' and Cosinda was founded. :) It's been used for a number of games and campaigns since so it seemed logical to use the name for my VSF forces.
Hope you've not been Googling long ;)

Delightfully obscure... :) No, I did not google for long. I, as one is prone to do, realized it had some rather narrow explanation as most of what I found were posts made by Bullshot here on LAF: :)
-
What scares me is, as soon as he said 'the Victorian spelling of the modern Cosinda', I immediately wondered 'trig'?
I'm am SO not a math geek! Why that happened, I'm afraid to find out!
Doug
PS Oh, yes, yes, lovely thread... ;)

Remember that the figures in this game were from 5 players' collections:
Unfortunately being a solo player, due to imposed work/life commitments, does not help!!!
Also, living in a “none VSF playing zone” makes it hard to share those little moments of likeminded comradeship.
At least, I haven't found anyone around who publically admits to it. lol
You don’t know how lucky you are. :'( :'(

You're closer to them than I am and I have to drive down there for a game :)

Yeah, but I can double the amount of troops I had on the table :P
Not so much the tech though :(

Also if these lads won't let you play you are more than welcome to drop in at my place and have a few games in the shed. Might take you a little bit more time to get here as we are in Australia, but as we have over 10 acres on the mountain you can pitch a tent in a paddock and have a campout at the same time!!! Just watchout for the Drop Bears...bit nasty at this time of the year, mating season and all.

I keep forgetting UK distance is different from USA distance. We have a fellow that joins our game every month, and he's half again as far as Blodwin from Malamute.
But, yes, to Oz is a whole 'nuther story. Long ago, I was thinking how good it would be for Colonel O'Truth to meet up with the posters in Australia, massive landships and other beasts. Then looked at a map with AU and NZ and a proper legend...
Crikies! And no motels between! lol

A part of that also comes down to fuel cost over here. For example when I drive down to play against Malamute and pals, it costs me £50 in fuel, can't do that too often.
-
You should see how much it costs us to drive down :o
Takes a fair bit of time as well.

That sounds like fun and I am truly honoured.
Being a solo war gamer for so long you will have to excuse me if I sit on my own, talk to myself and make strange noises. lol

The custard plays havoc with my bunions.

It wasnt me with the mankini....
And that was probably not a traffic cone in your bed, Peter, but more likely a form of headwear that is similarly shaped!
;)

Anybody want to see the photo?

Good looking game that clearly illustrated all the merits of the Gaslight rule set in a multiplayer setup.

Two questions: In the piccies, bowler = Malamute, lounging wild-eyed = Jimbibby?
Okay, third question, who is the batter on the table?
The question you don't want to hear: 'Is that a traffic cone under the covers, or are you just glad to see me?'
