Title: Welded Track Armour - What Colour?

Hello Folks:
I wonder if anyone has information on the colour of tank tracks welded onto to tanks as additional armour. Alas, all the photos I can find are in Black and White and are therefore of little use. I have seen some examples at museums but these were added after WWII to meet museum demands. Were such tracks painted the same colours as the tanks when they next went in for maintenance? Were they left to rust and weather? I have eight 15mm Sherman V and Sheman VC Fireflies sitting on my painting bench, festooned with extra track and just waiting to be painted and I do not know what to do. Help! Thanks in advance for your informed advice.

Both.

Sometimes painted (generally when the tanks was done) othertimes left as they are.
