These are mentioned in Chris Peers army lists. Does anyone know if they were actually used? If so, was the dog the big furry mastif type that doesnt look like it would hurt a fly? And if it is this one, anyone know where one might acquire 28mm models of the same? Just trying to tidy up my Tibetan forces.

Presumably it would be a reference to Tibetan Mastiffs, they or their close relatives have AFAIK been used in battle sometime in the past:

They may be smallish, but I was going to convert some Copplestone huskies. There may be better starting models, though.

Surely they would be Tibetan Terriers ;D ;D

Ignatieff,
There's some mastiffs here-don't know if they would work or not:

I was just reading Peers a week or two ago and thinking the same thing, but figured since I'd never seen you use any, they must not be 'canon' ;)

Ooooh, they look perfect! Thanks Allan. No, never really got round to thinking about them, but now having just finished our Durchfall campaign, time to round out a few armies....and plan our next outing for York wargames show: 'Seven Hours in Tibet'

Steve,
Can't vouch for the sculpting of the mastiffs, but I do have some of the Reivers (same line/sculptor I think) and Reivers are very nice.
Sounds like you have a few AAR's to post? I need a fix! ;D

More crackers! Thanks

The ones mentioned above are the only mastiffs I'm aware off. Been wanting those Vendel dogs since they came out :)
They would need manes to look more tibetan, but that would be quite an undertaking.
